Efin suitability

I submitted my efin application about 46 days ago, my application still shows processing.. I do have an efin number and it shows as active, but the app still shows as processing.. Well I got a letter from the irs requesting an extension, because of delay of processing.. Has this ever happened to anyone, if so is there anything that can be done to speed up te process..

I applied for my EFIN in 1997.  IRS lost the entire first package.  4 months later, I inquired and they had not received it.  Started the process all over.  Second round took 6 months to complete.  Good luck.

If you have an EFIN number, why are you applying for another one; or did the IRS put the cart before the horse?  Are you confusing EFIN with PTIN; or am I the one who is confused?

So guys I've figured out the issue.. My business partner had submitted her fingerprints last year.. Which is apparently too long ago.. Spoke with the irs this morning and was informed that she would have to submit a new fingerprint card because hers had expired.. I've decided to move forward without the partner being that I don't have another 45 days to spare... I was instructed to open a new location without adding her on the application.. The original can't be edited.. I'm just wondering how long does it normally take for my efin application to process for the second location being that I already have everything else taken care of..

Isn't that just ridiculous?  Unless you are actually moving location, they are basically telling you to file a false application just so they don't have to deal with a correction!  That's nuts.

 

The situation is even worse when you consider how nutty the idea of 'expired' fingerprints is.

I agree, it is stupid.  Is it because they don't store the prints or only keep them for a certain length of time like with immigration? I did a search and came up with a bunch of hits for expired fingerprints related to immigration services and found this article. The same article appeared in the Wall Street Journal but I couldn't access it:

Please pardon my ignorance, however, I don't recall submitting fingerprints when I applied for my Illinois office EFIN.

I'm considering applying for a second EFIN for my office in Hawaii.

Currently all returns are technically submitted from IL office, even those I prepare while at my Hawaii office.

Any suggestions or leads on guidance on two office EFIN is appreciated.

I'd like to avoid the issues faced by initial poster on this thread.
