Trina Posted February 13, 2018 Report Share Posted February 13, 2018 Hello Can someone please help!!!I lost my job for most of the 2017 year and received mortgage assistance from HFA Hardest Hit Fund program. The paid my mortgage for every month in the 2017 tax year accept December. I received a 1098 MA form with a total amount received from the program. I tried to contact the IRS to see if I was eligible to claim all or any of the funds paid on my behalf by Hardest Hit. The IRS said that there is a way if I use the safe harbor. Does anyone knows how to file the safe harbor, the eligibility or any information? Please let me know I want to make sure that I am filing my taxes correctly.
