1099 without EIN? Payee out of business
16 February 2012 - 04:08 PM
A client needs to issue a 1099-misc for a business that folded last year. I have an envelope with the W9 returned undeliverable with no forwarding address available, and the business does not have phone contact either. I believe the instructions say that a 1099 can be filed with the rest if less than 25% of the 1099s are not missing the EIN. Anyone know if this will cause the entire batch to reject, or do I have to paper file the whole batch. Suggestions?
Just curious about expensing ATX software
03 February 2012 - 04:09 PM
Just curious whether you are deducting the annual cost of the ATX software yearly, or are you recording it as 3-year off-the-shelf software and depreciating since it is available to use for as long as it will run on your computers.
Form 2210 and estimate due dates don't match
01 February 2012 - 10:06 PM
The 2011 Form 1040-ES and its instructions show the 1st quarter due date was 4/18/2011. 2011 Form 2210 shows a due date for the 1st quarter estimated payment of 4/15 and is showing the payment being 3 days late.
This is going to be a loooooooong season.

Another 1099-MISC question
30 January 2012 - 10:58 PM
Taxpayer and wife have a rental property in an LLC, taxed as a partnership. The only activity of this LLC partnership is the renting of commercial property. Does this LLC need to issue 1099-misc forms, or because this is rental activity, would this exempt them from the requirement?
TIA for any insight. I already hate this year, and it's barely rolling!
