  1. Then it's clear that Corduroy Frog should go to Excel Frog for a ribbiting conversation. <ba-dum tish> I'll see myself out.

  2. Thank you, Abby; that saves one of us from having to do it. Good joke; I was wondering myself how to twist one of those names but hadn't gotten around to it yet. You've also saved me that effort!

  3. It amazes me every time I watch someone else using Excel. There are so many ways to accomplish the same task. I was teaching a Jr. accountant how to do a bank rec yesterday, and watching him use Excel was an exercise in patience on my part. But it worked for him, and he got to where he wanted to go. And probably just as fast as I would have gotten there. Over time I am learning that everyone has a different way their mind works to get an answer. What is obvious to me as the best way to accomplish a task is not always the best way for someone else. It took me a long time to get to the point where I can recognize this phenomena...sometimes. But my way is still best...at least in my office where I am the boss. Tom Modesto, CA

  4. My point is that when you or the IRS calculates the underpayment penalty, the payment is placed in the quarter in which it posted, regardless of which quarter you said it was for.

  5. It seems obvious to me that 1040's are mailed to a bank drop box, where the bank deposits the check immediately, then forwards the rest to the IRS. But other returns are going directly to the IRS, and checks are taking 3 months to clear.

  6. I can tell this much. My personal return was extended and had to be mailed in. I mailed the check for the balance due with the return. In less than 10 days, the check was deposited and cashed by the IRS. Still no confirmation on the processing of the return. I sent it certified mail, got the greed card, they got my money. I guess it is they'll take the money and run and wait forever and a day to process the return. I thought for sure that mailing would have floated around somewhere in Charlotte for at least three or four months. However, it is proven this was not the case.
