I am needing advice on sending taxpayers emails with their tax return attached. I am looking for some app or program that will let me password protect or encrypt the email. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

We are thinking about selling our tax practice. However, when you sell a tax business you are basically selling names. Wouldn't your tax customers have to agree to new individual /company doing their tax return before selling? There seems to be a fine line and I'd appreciate any input.

Client adopted a child two years ago and the biological mother continues to file a return using child's ssn. My original e-file returned was rejected; we removed dependent and then e-filed again. They needed refund ASAP. Should I just amend their return with an explanation? Or is there specific IRS form I could use to explain and process? I have looked for federal form but can't find one. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Need to amend a dependent's return that an exemption was taken for them "and shouldn't have". After I amend dependent's return, do you think after a couple of months I would be able to then "e-file the parent's 2012 tax return"??? Or do you think I will have to paper file the parent's return? Any thoughts??

Yes. I have spent an hour and 20 min on phone with ATX support. I have not been able to download any updates - forms or program for the last four hours. I was told that there was a problem and they were working on it. Keep checking back to see if I could update. My problem is the 1040, w2 , 1099sa have updates...have appointments...had to cancel. Ugh! Every year seems like something.

Has anyone efiled a LA return yet? ATX site says the forms have been approved but my program says it has not been approved. I realize ATX has a list of forms that have been approved, but is there a different list for efile availability??

ATX said they are aware of problem with checkmark...doesn't affect the program updates; even though the site says 4868 has been approved for efiling...ATX says it has not been approved yet. I have been with ATX for 9 years and have never ever experienced an 1hr 22 min try to fix or try to answer my question wait time. Since checkmark by the include program updates has stayed checked...I have been frantic that maybe the program has not been communicating with my forms. Sorry for the babbling... The checkmark in 'include program updates' stays marked even though I update my program. I am having a problem with Form 4868. Even though I have the latest version of the form, program will not let me efile the extension. I don't think my program is completely updating. Any suggestions? have been on hold with ATX for 50 min and not getting anywhere. Thanks
