  1. Yikes, just looked and mine goes back to 1994.... I will say the 1994 is half the size of the 2021 MTG! If I dug in some drawers, I am sure I could find earlier ones....
  2. Gees, you all must be stronger than me. On my 40th season and counting down until I can get on Medicare and wind down and only due friends returns. Had a partner tell me once, "Tax season is like childbirth, you swear you will never have another, than the next year rolls around and you have another!"
  3. I am in Texas, extended date is June 15th. I don't trust IRS to not send letters, so moving along as if May 17th is deadline. That and I have other state clients... arggh. I hate even going to May, wish it was April 15th. Just screws up another month of my life. I agree with the first reply, don't bill more, but end up having just a little more dollars in the bill if they bring late every year.
  4. This is bull, the point is we shouldn't have to do this. Have a new machine, all software up to date . 64g of ram, had ATX install the large whatever file and still crashes 25 times a day. Even if the memory for ATX is at 800mb, you go to print and goes over 1000 and bam crashes. Takes longer than 15-20 seconds to reboot ATX and enter login info. I do not have it remember the user name for security purposes...
  5. But the loan forgiveness as the SBA regs currently state, has to be used up in 8 weeks. I have been getting with clients to discuss... Now the SBA may change the regs, but really hard to spend the extra 1/2 month in 8 weeks...
  6. And that is why I have the client pay the tax and not have anything to do with it. One of my largest clients had me make the payment. The payment didn't go thru because the date was incorrect for taking the payment as it was on the weekend and so it never got paid. Client didn't notice until two months after. He had me pay the penalties.... never again. This was the first year it was offered via the software....
  7. Since that is the same time as AICPA engage means a lot of beancounters in Vegas!!

    ATX Renewal

So i received a call from my rep this past Friday, and she wanted to know if I was going to renew for 2019. i asked if CCH was going to fix the 199A calculation. She asked, what do you mean? I told her that I find it ridiculous that the calc isn't automatic. You already have all of my information for performing the calc. you have the income, you have the retirement info, the SE calc, the fixed assets info. She said no one else had complained about the calc not being automatic. I said I find that hard to believe. You must have more types of clients that it pertains to. She said I could upgrade to Advantage to get the advance calculations. I said you are out of your mind that I would pay about $2400 more to upgrade to something I mostly do not need. I told her that beside the 199a calc, your phone system is completely unacceptable! I was on hold for 2 hours 38 minutes just to get a rep to unhang two efiles that would not go thru. Please tell me that others have voiced that concern also and she said yes. So basically I am paying you to cause me frustration. Nothing that they will work on it.... just nothing I told her Drake could perform the calc and they answer their phones. Her response was are you sure Drake does that? Not we are addressing it, but poo pooing the competition. I kid you not she was writing down the 199a calc to ask about why ATX wouldn't perform the calc and to see if it is going to in the future. She is supposed to call me back next week.
  9. Okay stupid question of the day. If you attach the pdf to the return and submit to IRS via efile, do you have to file form Form 8453 the transmittal of the docs to the IRS? I thought it was only if you were not attaching and had to paperfile the documents.....???

    ATX

I had that error this morning and rebooted the server and went away...
  11. I don't think there is anything you can do. If business return, they will apply to back business taxes and then to employment taxes. If 1040 overpayment, they will apply to back 1040 taxes and then to trust fund penalties...
  12. Didn't really answer the questions if 100% of the time the workstation rejects the efile...
  13. Need to fill out form 8824 - Like Kind Exchanges. Read the instructions....
  14. I am having the issue that I cannot efile on the workstation only. When I go to the server, it works after I run the refresh app configuration from the utilities. Which is what is says on the knowledge base says to do. I get the error that the efile was submitted without the latest update for the program. Please download the program update and resubmit. However, the program has the same update as the server... which it should as it is running from the server.... Program and forms icon are both green indicating all is updated. Anyone else have that problem?
  15. Very interesting article outlining what most of us have posted on the board about QBI and rentals and more importantly the safe harbor election. https://www.accountingtoday.com/news/a-safe-harbor-for-rentals-in-section-199a
  16. Took it all out, they withheld taxes at 20%. Put in non-retirement account. Past the 60 days... I don't know whom to blame more, the client or the bozos at the bank getting the financial account.
  17. Talked to a client yesterday about his 2017 return. His mom passed a couple of years ago. He transferred all his stretch IRA's from JP Morgan Chase to a local bank which has trust services. I asked him why he took the distributions, his response, because I didn't want to work with Chase. Tax bill is about $65,000. I seriously do not understand clients or the people that assist them sometimes...
  18. If you applied for an SS4 number, than need to file.
  19. For Cirque du Soleil, if you haven't seen either Beatles Love or La Reve, both are better than Mystere in my opinion.
  20. Palms at Ceasars Forum shops is really good. Lemongrass at Aria if you like really good thai food. Joyful House off of the strip in Chinatown is good.
  21. Would also second the ix500. Have been using the scan snaps for as long as been going digital
  22. Made the jump this year, and really like standing. Got the Varidesk Pro plus 48. Can place all three monitors on it (two vertical and one landscape). Be sure to get a good fatigue mat to stand on. Also, one thing hadn't thought of is you will need to get longer power cords and video cables as they won't reach unless computer is right next to monitors. Wish I had done this years ago. Still have desk chair and platform goes up or down as needed. The only negative that I have noticed is that you lose a fair amount of desk space, but that is more than offset by the benefits.
