  1. Distinguished Colleagues, Wanted your opinions or your take on the newly introduced package add-on CCH IFirm application? Is it feasible for a sole owned tax practice? What are you all using, as in practice office management software. Your opinions and suggestions is highly appreciated, please advise.
  2. Folks, No issues here with my update installed as well as the installation process itself was a breeze.
  3. Just did and so far, no issues.
  4. Thanks everyone for all the advice. I appreciate your thoughts & wisdom.
  5. Folks, I am in need of guidance and the right direction to pursue and file Mexican tax returns for tax year 2012. My client, an LLC establishment in the US engaged in a business transactions in Mexico from May 16th through July 12th of 2012 where a 25% withholdings tax was withheld from his total revenue proceeds earned. I am looking for assistance and guidance to file a returns to report and disclose this income earned to both the Mexican taxing authorities as well as the IRS on this transactions. I am well versed on the US side of things how to handle and proceed with this but not on the Mexican side of things. Please advise what I would need to do and what process is involved. Your help is greatly appreciated.
  6. A word of caution, you need to revamp your computer memory by upgrading it to the max. ATX2012 is memory resource intensive in launching, rolling over and loading respective returns. This version is nothing compared to prior years's versions. It is on new technology which is a memory hog.
  7. I feel and share your pain but why don't you install the ATX2012 as a network install whereby you will have a central repository on the server to save to one location from all workstations. That is what will alleviate all the mentioned above issues you are having. Rather than exporting and then importing from various machines independent of each other...
  8. Folks, seriously, now that this injunction barring the IRS in proceeding any further in this light... What are we to make of this, considering an appeal likely to come from the IRS to stoke the flame burning even more on this issue...So what's your take on this...
  9. Taxxcpa - This link you provided is broken... Can you please resubmit.....This is an interesting development .....
  10. I am starting to question seriously if this year's ATX-2012 version was beta tested thoroughly before rolling it out for us to purchase it? If it was then, were we end users or a select few invited in some form or fashion to participate in it's testing by CCH? This product is meant for us to utilize after purchase and we know it much better than anyone in it's evolution till now. We live with it throughout the whole year and we are better at it. Because if this was thoroughly tested, then we should not be experiencing all these case scenarios with the application with all these unforeseen performance issues. What is happening is, it is costing us more time pointing out what the flaws are with the software more so than what we need to be doing in our respective tax practices. This is just my take on this.. There must be a better way than this...
  11. Here is the link to the taxbook forum = http://forum.thetaxbook.com/forumdisplay.php?2-Main-Forum-Tax-Discussion
  12. It is so far working properly. A couple of enhancements have been introduced to enhance on it's robustness to respond quickly.
  13. As indicated by KCJenkins, check your preferences settings and select the security tab on the left, once here uncheck the option, require sign in (Single user) and click on apply to save your settings. Once this is done, close the program and relaunch it again and you will not be prompted to sign in again.. Please let us know how this works out....
  14. I also received mine this morning and have already installed it. It bears no difference to what I am always use to, the Total Tax Office package. I am set and ready to go.
  15. Joey's silly House, Can you elaborate a bit as to what you are trying to accomplish here... Do you want to set up the software installation to enable a multi user environment? If that is so, then you need to designate one machine as the server and the other as the client during the installation process. I am assuming that is what you want to do. A multi user set up will allow you to open up ATX software from respective machines independent of each other yet sharing the same database ( centralizing where clients returns are saved and stored). Please advise.....
  16. Folks, Pardon me for entertaining these thoughts out here but I am compelled by a burning desire to find out what the rest of you think about this: For those of us who got lucky in pricing with the ATX Software package through TRX, I am curious to know how our business relationship with CCH is going to be this coming Tax season. Do we still get the opportunity to utilize the resources provided by CCH ( myatx web page) or we have to go through TRX for all our solutions? Does purchasing the package from TRX and not from CCH pose any problems at all in the future for us with CCH? How is CCH assessing situations from the fact that most of us went through TRX for a much reduced or discounted price? Will this experience cause them to entertain the idea of discounting prices to what TRX offered to us? Are we being shunned on by purchasing the software through TRX? Will TRX, going forward keep poaching us their way with whatever package they offer even if it is not ATX in the future? and would CCH allow this to happen if it is going to undercut their ATX bottomline. I will appreciate your thoughts on these burning issues I have and thank you all in advance for your thoughts and comments.
  17. Folks, I need your help in making a determination of whether sales Tax on items purchased on my client's website purchased by respective customers from all 50 US States and territories must be assessed a sales tax on items purchased? My client's company is registered/Licensed to conduct business in New York State and we are looking to file and pay sales taxes in NY for the first time. We are at a loss as to how to treat this situation. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks to all in advance for your response.
  18. That was a mistake on my part, they will all be equal 1/3 owners.
  19. Folks, Can the First Time Homebuyer's credit be granted or taken on a fractional Share basis? That is three siblings are purchasing a home to be occupied by only one of them---they will equally be 1/2 owners. Can someone please shed a light on this if at all possible. Thank you all in advance.
  20. It is best to have a corrected W2 rather than making changes to it yourself. Have the client contact his/her employer to make the changes then proceed with e-filing the returns. Don't take it upon yourself to do that. That is to me compromising yourself and your business. Have the corrected W-2 come directly from the source.
  21. Ensure under Options----->Preferences----->Prepare Manager on the menu bar, you have the preparer's name selected. Once selected and applied, this will flow onto all the returns that gets rolled over. What do you have displayed when you clicked on the Preparer Manager tab? Do you see any entries within this tab?
  22. They could do so by sending us email alerts to advise us. since, I know they do have all our email addresses.
