  6. Client Is mechanic for borate bombers. Lives and works in Roseville Ca. In April for fire season the send him to Hollister, CA. He is paid a per diem. He bought a mobile home in Morgan Hill to stay in for those months. Can he still take the per diem to help offset the cost of the place in Morgan Hill. His tax home and regular place of work is Roseville.
  7. Just realized this is all her income so no need to file.
  8. Never seen this before. Client received 3 different SSA1099 in her name. Situation: Husband died Jan 2 2015, wife received husbands final SS payment. Husband received SSA1099 money in money out Box 5 None. Simple don't use this one. Wife received 1099 for the amount she received and a separate one for the amount of husband. Both different amounts. Then she applied for her X-husbands SS Benefit which she qualified for. The third SSA 1099 seems to be amount form X-husband The three all came in clients (wife) SS# but box 8 Claim number are all different. Do I just add up all the amounts and input into the program the totals?
  9. Okay, Thanks. it is not the ACA I am totally against it is the fact that it was put on us the preparers to reconcile every thing. And the reconciliation was not thought out very well. No income for 9 months. paying even the amount market place says you have to pay is unreasonable ( have insurance and live in your car don't eat) or no insurance eat and sleep in a bed. No you finally get a job and your are penalized for those 9 months you were below the poverty line. where is the fairness in that. and why is my post double spacing half the time? Just venting.
  10. Married couple, husband 1095B medicare all year. wife 1095-a Jan thru June amounts included Wife 1095-c june thru dec amounts included. Alimony

According to court documents the Alimony he was paying his x-wife should have stopped in 2013. He continued to pay her for all of 2014 can he still claim as alimony or is it now a gift.
  18. I also agree with all. And a special thanks to Tom and Patty again this year. I meant it when I said I quit. Patty helped me keep my business going last year with all my trauma with my mother. Six weeks into the season it all started up again. I guess I'm needed elsewhere. I still intend to cruse the board now and then. I'll miss my clients and all of you.

  20. Usually old client brings friend to be new client. Then after a couple of years I hear "oh by the way we got married." One client actually discussed the ramification of taxes if the got married. I told them marriage has nothing to do with taxes except for the penalty. Advised the lower earner to change the W-2 withholding and up the 401K contributions to max on both. "And by the way I charge double for the first year to combine all the information into one. " Believe it or not, I have to tell them I'm kidding. Maybe they come in to get a good look at their future prospects income and if they owe any back taxes. I do ask each client "are you sure you want some one else in here while we discuss your return?" Most say sure its okay and I document. But one told me No and made an appointment for later. They are not together any more. I still do both returns.
  21. LOL where do you find this stuff.
