  1. Thank you. This is just a discussion draft and not law, correct? from my link It is worth noting, however, that the Joint Committee on Taxation's Congressional Blue Book takes a contrary viewpoint to the IRS's Form 1040 instructions when it comes to the ability to take both the DPAD and the QBI deduction. The IRS indicated in informal phone conversations that it has taken its position due to the way the original transition rule for the DPAD operated back in 2005. In 2005, individuals were not allowed a DPAD deduction for a fiscal year that began in 2004 and ended in 2005. The allowance of the full DPAD in 2018 is to balance out that original rule. The positions in the Congressional Blue are not binding to the IRS, and to date, the IRS maintains its viewpoint that both of these deductions apply in 2018.
  2. Hi I have a client that received an estate fiscal year 10/31/18 K-1 with the old 199 QPAI and wages info on it. I read in the article below that these individuals can technically take both old 199 and 199A. . Has anyone run into this situation? If so, what did you do? Could there be a technical correction with this loophole? Any insight is appreciated. If you haven't run into this, what would you do? https://www.cbiz.com/insights-resources/details/articleid/7038/double-dip-on-dpad-and-section-199a-for-your-2017-fiscal-year-article
  3. I have e-filed hundreds of returns in ATX and some of the e-file status still have a green circle with a white center, indicating it hasn't been e-filed/received by the IRS. When I click on the return, it says it has been accepted with messages. I also have a handful of returns that have the yellow circle with 3 white dots indicating accepted with messages. I'd prefer all successfully e-filed returns have the green check, so I can quickly scroll through ATX and see what is still open and what is good. Has anyone else experienced this? What is the resolution? Thank you.
  4. Hi all, I am new to ATX software. 2018 tax returns were my first year using it. I purchased a firm and seller used it so I continued with it. My question: Does anyone have any recommendations on a file storage system for client workpapers and so they can be organized in an electronic file cabinet type system? I'm currently just using a shared drive on the server. Does anything integrate with ATX? I know ATX isn't a cloud software, but wondering if I could move my client workpaper files to the cloud. If not the cloud, what type of system would you recommend to store client workpapers? Thanks in advance. Tim
  5. I purchased the incorrect folder for tax returns from Tenez. Rather than send back to Tenez and pay the $20 shipping, I was wondering if anyone in the Metro Indianapolis area would like to buy them from me at a discount and pay no shipping. I purchased 250 and it's folder #12-310 Total Tax Folder in Blue. Top tab hidden staple center cut. I would sell for $195. If you live in Indy and would like to purchase these and save some money, please let me know. Thank you. Tim Schluge
