  1. I believe they are having some kind of computer programming issue with the 7004 forms filed in 2006. I received a CP-259 last month regarding a LLC that filed as a partnership. They had an e-filed 7004, transmitted and confirmed prior to April 15th. It says Our records show that you have not filed the tax return as shown below. Form ................................................ Tax Period Ending 2758 .........Fiduciary Income Tax......... Dec. 31, 2006 This makes no sense at all for a 1065 filing with a valid e-filed form 7004. The 2758 is an obsolete extension form, and did not exist for the tax year 2006 (2005 either), because they put all the business returns together on the 7004, with code numbers for the entity type.
  2. Something else to think about before you good people send in any more of your hard earned money. Last night, at 7:57 EST I received an automated call. It was from Taxwise, saying "before I renewed my tax software for next year" to call a phone number and check out the Taxwise software. I did not bother to write it down. I just held the phone out and looked at it, expecting the Twilight Zone music to start coming out. I have NEVER supplied them with my phone number or asked them for an evaluation copy. I know the Department of Professional Regulation here in Florida does not give out lists of CPAs phone numbers. So, how did Taxwise get my phone number, if not from my ATX information, that is already setup on the Taxwise website for some reason ? And why is CCH urging me to check out software from another subsidiary, before I renew with ATX? Is that not the equivalent of my partner, calling a client, and asking them to let him do their tax return next year, instead of me? That would not make any sense to me, unless my partner had bought the practice last year, and I was going to retire.
  3. Weblog - The Latest ATX News IRS, EXtension & State ack info 04/16/08 updated 4-16-08 at 10:53am--Due to the high volume of processing returns and posting acks to customer's electronic mailboxes, we have limited how frequently customers can call and pick up acks. Acks can only be received within a two hour interval. Once we have everything processed and posted to the mailboxes we will increase the time frame to pick up acks. updated 4-16-08 at 9:50am---We have confirmed that all tax returns received by our Electronic Filing Center by midnight April 15th will be considered timely filed by the IRS. All returns and extensions sent to us by midnight have been sent to the IRS but not all by the 2am drain. Some will go into the 11am drain. We will be processing 2am acks for a few hours, and will get those posted as quickly as possible. Until these acks are posted, the Return Query program will not reflect the correct information. CS reps can tell you nothing more about specific returns until the acks are processed. updated 4-14-08--the last date to e-file stimulus returns is Oct 15. After that date, no stimulus rebate money will be paid to the taxpayer.
  4. I went to bed and got up at 3:30 EST figuring most of even the west coast had stopped trying to get through by then. It went back through and I finally received ACK's on extensions with about 170k worth of direct debit requests for the 14th. I transmitted them very early Friday morning. With the inability to get through and problems with ACK's coming back, shortly after noon Friday I decided to switch another batch I had left owing about 70k to paper filing with checks and vouchers via certified mail. The same people it took me 3 years to convince of the reliability and convenience of e-filing with direct deposit or debit. I sent all the Monday direct debits paper copies of the extensions and asked them to please check early Tuesday to make sure the payment went out, and use the paper version to make the payment via certified mail if it did not. Of course, this really impressed them. It will be a miracle if I do not lose several clients with substantial tax returns over this. These Bozo's have taken about 10 years off my life. I would not use them for 2008 if they gave me the software for free.
  5. Last year, back when you could still get SOME support, I asked the same question. They sent the link below from their Knowledgebase. Document ID 5169 Tax Year 2003; 2004; 2005; 2006 Product E-file, TaxPrep "Error: Name is too long for e-file" when creating e-files -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You receive the following message when creating a 1040 e-file in your ATX software: 1040 - Error: Name is too long for e-file. http://techkb.atxforms.com/TSTKB.nsf/0/3e7...99?OpenDocument I checked the link and it still works. Or you can go to MyAtx Knowledgebase and put in Document ID 5169
  6. After selecting "Paper check by Mail" on the 1041 EF Info Click on the tab for mailing instructions and it tells you to send in the check with the 8453-F within 3 days, and provides the mailing address. The ERO and Trustee need to sign the form. Question. Somebody is sending a check somehow. The account does not have to be in the name of the Trust, just have valid routing and account numbers for the direct debit. Why not just use that to e-file with direct debit ? That is, if you still want to after reading the following. Re: 1041 Efile Acceptance. I e-filed a balance due 1041 with balance due on Feb 7th. It showed "Validated by EFC" almost immediately. I setup a direct debit for the 14th. Still waiting for the Acceptance notice. I e-mailed Tech support after giving up on a 45 minute hold last tuesday. I never received any response, other than the automated one. Called Wednesday afternoon. Finally after another 45 minutes I got a live person in Rome Georgia (no I never heard of it either) who took the ID#,left me on hold for 5 to 10 minutes, then returned to swear they found the e-file. For some reason it was "Just sent out that morning" That was last wednesday. Now, Tuesday, it still only says "Validated by EFC". So, if I want to try it again, I need to call the attorney who handles the trust and say, "By the way, the e-file seems to be in the Twilight Zone. Could you check the account to see if the payment went though on the 14th?" I am sure that will impress him.
  7. I e-filed a Trust return last Thursday at noon and it still just shows "Validated by EFC". I sent an e-mail to them yesterday after holding on the phone for 30 minutes. I received nothing back but an automated e-mail response. The 1041 had a balance due, which I setup for direct debit one week after I sent it in. So I do not want to simply try it again. What is going on with these people ! I am on hold now again. 35 minutes and counting. Listening to a recording of how important I am
  8. Midnight (your local time) today, October 15th. I put through 8 of them this week with expired extensions.
