  1. Thank you so much. It is great to have a friend...
  2. I have a return that Federal has been accepted. On e-file center the state shows rejected but no reject codes. On my e-file program the state is listed as held. I have gone into the return and re-created it with no errors but when I go to send it it still shows held. Can any one help> Thanks.
  3. Send an e-mail to customer support to get their attention. I am having an issue with return check for Sch C and line for SE health insurance adjustment and they are really slow figuring out the problem. So heads up to do a lot of check returns before the season really kicks in since it appears we are testing the program. Let's keep those support people busy. Who knows, they may understand taxes before the season is over.
  4. I have a question abot EIC while the subject is a topic... I know the cut off age is 65 but I can not find any inf about this situation... Couple filing MFJ...wife is over 65 and not working, husband is under 65 and has some income, so jointy do they qualify? thanks...
  5. Recent legislation provides targeted tax relief for Homeowners equal to 90% of any tax increase (formerly 60%) over 12% for taxes paid in 2012 only. Dept of Revenue will figure the adjusted amount. Refund rate will increase from 60% to 75% for 2013 and after.
  6. Thanks for the heads up on this. I was just about ready to pay $$ for a webinar on May 8th on this subject.
  7. No, this was in addition to wages...sort of incentive pay to get him to go with their company.
  8. and these payments were added to client's W-2. Can the client put them on Sch A since they aren't moving expenses?
  9. Can closing costs on a home which were included on W-2 be deducted as moving expense? Distance and time tests were met.
  10. I did include a phone number. I am now thinking that since I put April 15th as withdrawal date and banks are not open that date , that could be the reason...but will we ever know?
  11. Has anyone figured out why/when electronic funds withdrawal is not accepted? I used to think it was because the client designated a savings account but I got one today that used a checking account and it was still denied. I filled in the date and amount of withdrawal...I am puzzled.
  12. I haven't heard of anyone's check not being cashed by IRS. I have seen that statement and just chuckle...and print out the voucher on my 20 wt paper.
  13. Client wired cash and was scammed. Can this be taken as a loss?
  14. My bad...thinking of Roth rollovers I guess...
  15. You are in luck as both 2009 and 2010 were years that the RMD could be left in the IRA to "grow"...
  16. I have a client who became a Pampered Chef associate this year. I am concerned about how inventory and sales are determined. Does anyone have any tips or guidance? Most of my clients are W-2 folks or retired.
  17. Now that tax season is over and I am looking back...I am wondering why I had 2 clients auto withdrawal requests denied by the IRS. The first was for $8 so I thought maybe there was a minimum amt, but the other was $299. Any thoughts?
  18. I had similar situation...with my own son yet. He is self employed and has his own health insurance. Wife is self employed (day care) and has her/family health insurance. I showed they owed $220 and IRS sent letter and check for $1100 saying they corrected my error. However I spent over an hour on the phone with IRS going over the return. The IRS subtracted both health insurance amounts from each SE tax computation. They finally agreed that I was correct. I was so upset by this time that I told the kids to cash the check and put it in savings and wait until (if?) IRS asks for money back. It is hard enough to tell your own family that I was right and IRS was not, would my regular clients believe?
  19. I also had a client get a refund check from IRS. In this situation both H&W are SE and both have their own health insurance. The IRS wanted to deduct the entire health insurance deduction from each person before figuring SE. I told client to put check in a savings acct until they ask for it back. It is easier than trying to return the check and tell the IRS they are wrong....
  20. A client asked me this question as his boss has offered this deal...We are talking construction business here. Boss owns vehicle and pays insurance and repairs. Employee drives vehicle to and from home and work sites. Can he take employee business expense for gas purchased and/or take mileage expense?
  21. Check "Where's My Refund" on IRS website. They give a good explanation indicating where the refund may be going.
  22. OR the problem may be with the IRS in that 4 dependents are listed but 3 qualify but are not top 3 listed...The more I look at the form, I don't think there should be entries where some seem missing and how do you tell a client $2000 will be delayed, and I am not picking on him just because his PACKERS won the super bowl.... Has anyone else found the IRS more incompetent than usual this year?
  23. Latest form 8812 (version 22) still does not flow withholding tax and medicare tax to line 7, even though the correct amount does calculate. One unhappy Client will be getting a paper check for refund less refundable addnl child credit because the numbers were missing. Maybe it was something I did or didn't do, haven't heard back from Tech support...
  24. I am having trouble with MN getting tax returns with SE tax adjustment and form M1NC accepted. Reject code is 0252 but I double checked that Ln 17 of M1M/Ln 17 of M1NC are same and Ln 36 M1M and Ln 18 M1NC are same. What am I missing? I did the fed adjusted gross income recomputation. Any suggestions?
  25. I have trained my clients well and they are bringing their charitable lists and receipts. I just want to double check that I have to send them in...
