ATX 2014 Problem. Program will not complete opening

When I try to open the program, the blue introductory window opens and stays on the screen for perhaps 30 seconds. Then another message window opens on the screen, which is titled, "Can't connect to Server." The body of the message reads, "An attempt was made to start the server process, but the application is still unable to connect. Please start the server and try again." My only option is "close."

Today I talked with ATX customer service, who was not able to resolve the problem. I reinstalled 2014 program with no change. I was told I would need to wait until Tuesday, May 27 (after the weekend) for someone from Tech Support to call me.

Has any one dealt with this problem and hopefully found a solution?

Thanks,

Run (WindowsKey+R) services.msc and see if ATX 2014 Service is running. If not, right click and start it. You can get to services thru Control Panel, Administrative too.

If it is running, stop then restart it.

Also, try running the Admin Console:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CCH Small Firm Services\ATX 2014 Admin Console\Sfs.ServerHost.AdminConsole.exe"

There is a page on this problem on the ATX support site:

I have recently noticed an occasional glitch when I open 2014.  The blue screen will come up and the program will not open.  I went to task manager and it shows ATX Splash Screen on the task list.  When I cancel that task, the software opens up.  It just started doing this to me after tax season, and it does not happen all the time.  I noticed that it happens when I fire up my computer and I click on the ATX icon immediately.  If I wait until I have opened my e-mail and internet, it does not seem to happen.

weird.
