LauraA
The 2018 w2/1099 e-filing produces a separate AR.zip file for the client in addition to the .zip file to upload to SSA. This cannot be submitted to the SSA (as I tried and it rejected). In years past I have only sent the SSA the one zip file for the client with the understanding that the IRS sends the State of Arkansas the information and we weren't required to send paper forms to AR. But with the addition of this AR.zip file I am wondering if the procedure will be the same or do we have to make sure AR gets copies ourselves? Lee B
I don't about your state, but my state of Oregon has never received any 1099/W-2 info from the IRS or the SSA. I would suggest you check with your state to make sure. More than likely you will need to submit the 2nd file directly to your state. LauraA
I have never had to send AR anything when I have e-filed W-2s to the SSA before, and never received any letters or correspondence from AR about it. But this change is making me nervous and I can't get through the ATX customer help to ask any questions today. I'll try again, but will probably paper file the AR W-2 copies this year if I don't get a solid answer.
Lee B
I would still check with your state because most states, including my state of Oregon have mandated the efiling of all W -2s and 1099s, meaning that they will not accept any paper filed W -2s or 1099s.
