ifirm portal and file names

I was hoping to have an easy way to integrate atx with a client portal but i am having some trouble using the direct upload. If i do 2017 and 2018 returns for a client and  use the upload to portal feature the files come in with the same name. xxxclient_clientcopy.pdf. Tech support told me there is no way to change the name once uploaded (and I see no way to change the name while uploading). They suggest I print to a local pdf file and then manually rename and upload. or if a client uploads a file with a lame filename i should download, rename and then upload and delete the original.

Does anyone have any other ideas for either of the situations I mentioned. It seems like one of the most basic functions is missing.

For my tax return uploads I think i can change the name of each client each year in the return manager to add a year to differentiate the files (ie Smithjoe2018).

Thanks

Thanks for the reply guys. I understand what you are saying but when I invested in CCH Ifirm I was told the integration with ATX was seamless. Yes, its just a matter of checking the box to upload but it just seems very clunky and amateurish to not be able to customize the file name at any point.

Not to mention Im still Irritated about all the hoops I have to jump through to rename client provided files. I have a client that every year provides me with a spreadsheet labeled 2006 taxes. :(
