Yardley CPA Posted March 4, 2019 Report Share Posted March 4, 2019 A client had banking issues that caused the bank to change her account to a new account number. Client owes the IRS and her old account number is reflected on the accepted efile. Best way to deal with this? I am going to ask her to contact her back and see if the old account may be linked to the new account in some way? Any other ideas? Contact the IRS and make them aware? Lily Posted March 5, 2019 Report Share Posted March 5, 2019 If the payment date is 3/15 or 4/15, you might be able to cancel it. Then schedule a new payment by phone or EFTPS. Last year, I efiled a return with Federal estimated tax payments scheduled. Max W Posted March 5, 2019 Report Share Posted March 5, 2019 If the account is closed, or there is insuffient money in it to make the payment, you do not have to do anything. I don't even entertain any questions about this situation and I tell the client to send a check on April 10 or whenever they receive the bill, whichever is sooner.
