ETax847
I have prepared a 2018 return and when I now try to access it, I receive in error message saying to open the 2017 return and close it and try again. This did not fix the problem. Has anyone experienced this error and found a solution?
jasdlm
I assume you already closed 2017 and 2018, shut down your computer, restarted your computer, and tried again? I have had this happen, but a complete reboot of the computer has fixed the issue. Do you have autosave on? How frustrating. I really feel for you! Lee B
In past years, if your save is working, you should be able to restore your most recent saved copy of this return.
DBerg
I know when I have issues opening a return I will try "Re-Download Forms in Marked Returns" first before restoring from backup Here is the KB on how to use it, hopefully this helps https://support.cch.com/sfs/solution/000046781/14202?q=WKArticleType__kav

You mean backup. ATX backs up a return every time you close it. On big returns I take advantage of this and close every 30 minutes or so. It's a good time to take a break and give ATX a rest too. ETax847
It turns out the file was corrupted. ATX Tech support was able to export the file, fix it and send it back. Thanks for all the suggestions!
