business expense or education expense?

My client is retired military and he has started his own business as a sort of special ops consultant.

He trains SEALs, other military teams, and missionary teams going into hostile territories on various subjects.

I have no doubt of his integrity.

My question is this; are related classes taken at college deductible as business expenses?

These are master's degree classes in missionary, world, hostile territories, etc. Not English and math, but very targeted subjects toward the work he is presently doing. It enhances his credibility in his profession.

From your description, I'd deduct the costs if the course work maintains or enhances his current role and as long as they do not specifically qualify him for a new position or other job.
