Randall
A married couple files separately (apparently for student loan payback reasons). Both have employer health insurance plans. Does claiming the child as a dependent for the health insurance with employer mean that parent has to claim the child on the separate tax return? I wouldn't think so. Seems the employer health insurance would be independent of the tax return dependent status. Just thought I'd run it by everyone.

Sara EA
There are lots of divorced dads who can't claim their children as dependents but are required by the divorce decree to keep them on their insurance.
