This came from Drake, but it seems that Microsoft has pulled the update because of other software being affected.

Recent Microsoft Windows Update and Printing

Microsoft released a Windows update last night that is causing issues for some customers when printing tax forms. Some symptoms we are hearing are:

  • black boxes printing on forms
  • PC "blue screen" error when printing

It appears Microsoft has pulled the updates from Windows Update while they look into the problems that are affecting various software programs.

(The rest of the announcement concerned Drake specifically and isn't included here, but it was suggested to try printing to pdf if printing is a problem and to consult with someone experienced in rolling back if you are affected and want to remove the update.)

is the story in ghacks.net that explains just what's up.  A commentator to the story posted 3 hours ago that only "corporate printers such as Kyocera, Ricoh, ebra, Sato, etc." were affected, and "No issues with HP, Canon, Epson, or Lexmark."
