Lee B
Huge Data Breach at National Public Data according to CNET: "According to an August statement from National Public Data -- a data broker that sells personal information to private investigators, consumer public record sites, human resources and staffing agencies -- "a third-party bad actor" hacked into the data and leaked the stolen information on the dark web. National Public Data obtained the information by scraping nonpublic sources without consent, according to a proposed class action lawsuit. " "Two online security companies have put up websites that let you check for free if your Social Security number is part of the stolen store of personal information: One is https://www.npdbreach.com/ from the online privacy company Atlas Privacy; the second is https://npd.pentester.com/ by the Pentester cybersecurity company. " According to these two websites, both my wife and my personal information were exposed in this hack. After the Oregon DMV was hacked back on June 1, 2023, I am really glad we froze our credit. Of course this hack is just now being announced when it happened 4 months ago!
Medlin Software, Dennis
Mine is in there too. The baddies had at least 4 months head start and there is no mass news of issues. Normal protections and monitoring should be fine, as well as realizing your ssn has not been reliably for many many years.
Pacun
Has anyone checked and NOT in the list? I don't trust anyone so I will not enter my social on those two websites until I know they are good sites.

Neither site requires your SSN The first site ask for First and Last Name plus your zip code. The second site asks for you First and Last Name plus your State and the year you were born. I did check 2 of of my 3 kids. One pops up and one did not.
Lion EA
I'm on there with an old biz address where I was an employee plus my current home address. All have my cell, however. I don't use my cell much, so don't answer calls on it if a known name doesn't show. I hadn't thought to check our kids. Hubby checked his name and mine, so I knew I showed up and checked myself. Long ago, Hubby's health insurance at his employment, maybe Anthem, had a breach, so we froze our accounts at the credit bureaus way back then. Glad we did.
mcbreck
I checked my wife and I - we are on it for our previous address from 6 years ago. Ever since the Equifax breach probably 8 years ago(?) we've had our credit locked at those services. When we moved I had to unblock us for a month. Everyone should go into those services and lock them down.
artp
Are the sites quoted above really legit? I am very concerned that they are fishing for people to sign up for paid services that are not effective at best and dangerous are worst.
Medlin Software, Dennis
The one I tried did not ask for anything I would be concerned with. The results included an address from 35 years ago, which is likely only from credit bureau type breach. But, most importantly, no need to really check. Just be honest with yourself and realize your name, addresses, phone, relatives, and SSN cannot be considered private.
ETax847
IRS pins will be important for this filing season. I have already dealt with 3 clients who have experienced issues of identity theft. Could be related to this breach or could just be a coincidence.
