When is the 2024 E-File shutdown in ATX for individuals and businesses? Is it two different dates? I know the IRS shuts down it's efile services on 11/30/2024 and ATX is usually a couple days before that. Businesses tend to be about a month later but does ATX still let you file for businesses until December?

I'll just reply to myself now that I've got an official email in case anyone else didn't get it...

The Electronic Filing Center Will Shut Down on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 — 2 Hours Before the IRS

The IRS announced that its modernized e-file (MeF) shutdown and cutover for Tax Years 2021, 2022, and 2023 is Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Please note, however, that Wolters Kluwer will shut down the Electronic Filing Center (EFC) two hours before the IRS shutdown on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at 10 p.m. ET for Individual Returns.

After the shutdown occurs, the Wolters Kluwer EFC will not accept Individual Returns (federal and/or state) until the IRS comes back online in early January 2025. However, tax professionals can continue picking up acknowledgements through mid-December 2024.

Final Day for Electronic Filing of 2021 Returns
Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 is also the last day that Tax Year 2021 returns can be electronically filed. Any acknowledgements must be retrieved by the user no later than mid-December for electronically filed Tax Year 2021 returns. The Electronic Filing Center for Tax Year 2021 will not be available after mid-December to pick up these acknowledgements.

If you have any questions, please visit either the ATX® or TaxWise® blogs.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

I wonder why they say that the IRS will come back online in 'early' January?  Seems overly optimistic to me.

They come back online in early January for some business returns first. As long as you define "early" as "first half" meaning up to the 15th.
