samingeorgia
OK, another dumb question. I did a return for a construction worker who worked in four states. Can I e-file all of them? Did't it used to be that you could e-file only one state???
Lion EA
I can with ProSystem fx. There may be states that do not accept NR returns via e-file.
windmill
I have efiled two states at the same time with the federal. You need a tax preparer number for NY,,OH went fine without a designated number and CA doesn't need one either as long as you don't go over 10. mcb39
Lion may be correct that some states might not allow e-files of non-resident returns. However, you can e-file as many as you like if it is allowed. You used to only be able to file one pigy-back and the rest had to go separate. So far this year the most I have had is three states on one return. All e-filed and all were accepted.
samingeorgia
Thanks, all. I suppose that if I click "Create E-File" and they all show up to add, I'll be good to go. This is a definite improvement! I resisted e-filing for a long time, but I'm really sold on it. I see that IRS has indicted one of the "seasonal employees" here in Atlanta for tinkering with her buddies' returns. E-file eliminates that as well as the headache to IRS of dealing with "seasonal" employees, who really don't give a hoot whether they do the work right or not.
