  1. I would agree - there is not much there from IRS - I'll give you what I have. IRS says my AGI of $13,574.00 - IRS calc of $13,477. Taxable income my amt of $4224 and theirs of $4127 for total tax mine of $1162 and theirs of $1348 and explanation of they changed computation of the self-employment tax on Sch SE. Client has 2 Sch C with net income of $6335 on one and $3989 on other for total of $10,324. Also has SE health insurance deduction of $5096. The SE health insurance worksheet shows Lines 1 & 3 of $5096 with line 4 of $3989, line 5 of $10,324 line 6 of 39%, 7a of 730, 76 of 285 and lines 8, 10, 13 & 14 of $3704. Also line 15 of $5096.

with Line 16 of $3704 and Line 17 of $1392.

  2. Insufficient information for us, I think.

  3. Client just rec'd notice on 2010 1040 that IRS changed the computation of the SE tax. I cannot seem to figure out why - they don't give me much info only that they changed AGI to a lower amt and taxable income to a lower amount, but then increased the total tax on line 60. I went through the calculations on the program and they seem to be correct. He did have 2 Sch C businesses and had self-employment health insurance deduction. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

    thanks,

  4. We out-sourced about 35 2010 returns which were completed with other software. I am going to rollover these returns into the 2010 program. My concern is next year when completing the 2011 returns - what happens with the depreciation. Does the rolling over process show the 2010 depreciation used or does the actual filing the returns through ATX show the depreciation used? What, if anything, will I need to do next year re: this depreciation? Thanks.

  5. went to e-file tab - extensions - and had nice list of all extensions so did a report. then i pushed delete somewhere and now all i have is short list of name and status - how can i get back my original list with complete info? thanks

  6. Very simple return - wages of $19,000 and person made traditional ira contrib of 1500. For some reason the worksheet is not including form 1040 line 22 income. has to be something simple, but I am NOT seeing it. why wouldn't the wage income flow over???

thanks for any and all help.

  7. "Filer and spouse name, formatted per IRS specifications is too long for e-file" Paper file this return.

I think I saw discussion on this earlier but can't locate it. Any way to get around this. Have a hyphenated last name for spouse.

    Thanks

  8. Client calls and asks if return is ready. Told them no - I would try to get to it soon and client responds, "So nothings been done in the last 2 weeks" I so wanted to comment - no nothings been done around here - I've actually been on a cruise and just returned. Geez, got to laugh!!

  9. Thanks for info - one more question. in this case employer paid $1125 and employee paid $5025 with the W-2 showing Code W of $6150 so the Form 8889 has in line 9 $6150 and client looks over return and sees Line 9 showing $6150 and says that's not right because employer paid $1125 and she paid $5025. Have I done something wrong? I WILL conquer this form!

  10. this form drives me crazy. i need to understand it. client has family hsa with box 12 showing code w at $4050. also got the ssa showing normal distribution amount of $3047. in filling out the form 8889 i get a line 13 deduction of $2100 and line 17 as 0. does this make sense?? am i missing something?? any help is appreciated

  11. Part II, #3 - As the person claiming the refund for the decedent's estate, will you pay out the refund according to the laws of the state where the decedent was a legal resident? DUH, and the answer is?????????? I think they are trying to weed out the honest people here! :scratch_head:

  12. Farmer received 1099 MISC for $362,367 crop insurance proceeds. He is farming with dad - he gets 1/3 - dad 2/3. this full amount came in son's name and s.s. # because his name was listed first. he talked to agent and company and asked for them to issue a corrected 1099 showing 1/3 of this to him and 2/3 to dad. they refused. so i am issuing a 1099 MISC for the 2/3 amount going to dad from son. my ? is how to show on the Sch F for son - do I show 362,367 on Line 8 (he wants to defer to next year) If I do, big problem next year when he only shows $120,789 as income or do I show this year only $120,789 as amount deferred? Does it make a difference if dad defers or not defers?? of course, today is deadline - thanks for your help. i'm not doing dad's return
