I got the same letter. It does not state about the price of the product. If Drake provides some discount, I'm seriously thinking of taking the plunge.
-
Mike - I sent you my information through PM. Please add me to your list
-
Thanks, Crank
I tried to efile few 1120s and there is no option to choose in the IL-1120s form for efiling. Contact the support few times and they don't have clue. I can efild Federal but not Illinois.
-
I'm in Illinois and I do few business returns. I'm able to efile Federal and unable to efile Illinois .Anybody run into this situation?. Am I doing something wrong?.
For some returns, the learning curve is little steep for Taxwise.
Hope everyone is having a successful tax season

Please let me know how to lock a completed return so that I won't accidently edit the return in Taxwise.
Taxworks had a nice feature to lock, I'm unable to find the same feature in Taxwise.
-
Thank you. I can convert excell to PDF as well.
-
I have a client who has more than 500+ stock transaction. I'm searching for some document to know how to import excell sheet into Taxwise. Please let me know how to import excell in Taxwise if you have done it?

I bought the software. Finally, I have a working software. I can sleep better. Now I have to fight with Doug to get the money I paid. Much relieved. Mike D - thank you
-
Mike D- Thanks. I left a voicemail and waiting for a phone call . Does this software comes with business module along with efile feature?
-
I'm unable to get through their phone. Do you have any extension I can dial-in . I tried few times, no luck.
Mike D- Thanks for providing the details.

Cathy,
Does the Intuit offer include business return or just 1040 ?

Taxed, from whom did you buy the Taxwise and how much did it cost?.For those of you who did not make backup arrangements should TRX not deliver a professional quality tax prep software, you are taking a very big gamble. 1/30 is tomorrow in case you have not taken notice! I hope your clients are as understanding as you have been with TRX because the moment they discover that there was an error in the calculation and that caused a CP2000, they will want you to fix it, pay any interest and penalties and demand their fees back and also you may lose a client. The problem with this fiasco is that you may not know for the next 3 years if something that you did this year will become a headache for you. -
Even expensive software like ATX, Taxworks are exactly in the same status of cheap TaxExact. Exception being Drake.
-
Do we know when the state forms will be available?
-
I hate to burst the bubble but that is a lame excuse that the proforma is not working right because as per TRX "The theory is that we did not want the clients all in the open return client grid incase the tax payer did not come back this year".
Give me a break! All the major software allow proforma for all the clients from the prior year. If a client does NOT come back this year the solution is a simple click to delete the client. What about a lot of us who do NOT bulk proforma but only do one client at a time as appoints are booked.
I am glad that Doug finally said that they did a very poor job with the proforma this year. I have been saying that since the day I got that CD.
So Doug it is time to man up and issue refunds to those of us who will NOT be using your software this year because we do not believe it is a professional quality software and we were totally misled when we renewed.
I will be expecting my refund from TRX soon!
I wish you all the best for future years with this software but this year it has totally disappointed many of us.
Taxed, what software did you buy?. I'm looking for a back-up too . TaxAct won't work out since I need business module

Ok guys, I don't want to spend the rest of the week as a beta tester for TRX and losing my own clients to competition. I am ready to move on to something that I can trust will work for me.
I downloaded update 12, recreated my test case and still find the following:
1) Form 8829, no taxpayer name or SS# as required on top
2) Line #40 date placed in service can not be the year 2012 because it calculates 0 for depreciation percentage. If you put a date before 2012 it will calculate. This is the 2012 form???
3) Sch A line 6 is still blank, line 9 is correct. Line 10,11 still blank but line 15 is correct
4) Sch A line 21 is buggy. If only one entry it will print the item but put 0 in the line but grand total is correct. If more than one entry the last item is printed instead of printing see statement, because the statement itemizes the entry.
5) Still can't proforma existing clients from 2011 version with any data other than name and address. That is not acceptable so late in the game.
6) My state has been live and accepting E files but TRX has not even turned it on so that I can see if that works correctly. Most competitor software has it live.
I got a full schedule on Saturday, and I do NOT see TRX fixing all these issues by then for me to work on any of my existing client's returns.
I don't know when the next update is that will fix proforma but without that this software is useless to me.
Taxed,
In my personal return, I could see the Proforma brought the Schedule C, 4562 and 2441 will all the correct details; however, Schedule A is missing.

Schedule A, medical is just one field. No fields to itemize medicine, insurance, doctors, dentist, etc. No mileage deduction either. Just one field. State sales tax deduction is incomplete. Real estate tax is only one field with no link to detail statements (must figure you only have one mortgage). The same with gifts. No detail. That is as far as I have gone with this. Not in the mood to waste my time. So no, Schedule A is not functional."
Boss this is what you wrote on 1/18. Today you appear to be quite satisfied. Has your concerns been taken care of? Are you concerned that proforma of 2011 clients still remains elusive??
I have appointments on Sat and I can't get an answer when proforma will work?
I did a simple return which was proforma. Intially in 1040, the Taxpayer name was blank and the spouse name was there. I switched between 1040 and 1040A, and now 1040 has all the details. Correct calculation as well. I will do the Schedule A tomorrow and see how it works. I'm waiting for Doug's email regarding the state and business module
-
Doug,
The EIC is being calculated based on the 2011 figures. If you will check the EIC Worksheet it clearly states 2011 and has the correct figures for 2011.
BTW, I deleted the return and input it as new, still having a problem with the dependent last name.
And YES, I have updated to V 11.
Nellie
Nellie,
Did the version 12 fix the issue you were experiencing?
-
I just finished installing update 11. Still can't see 2011 clients? The 8829 form still has 40 as blank. Not calculating depreciation. No ststes.
When will that be available? I have a full day appointments on Sat??
When will update 12 come? Will that fix this?
Taxed, I just updated the TaxExact and it is showing version 12. Did you try to update with the new version?. I will be away from my computer a while and curious now what all the issues got fixed. Keep us all informed.

You may login at Trxmembers.com to watch the video ( video #3). Instructor showed how to do Schedule C,D,E. Taxexact organizer is not professional looking. I do few business return also. So I don't know how this is going to work out. Fingers crossed

Taxed,
After using TaxAct, Taxwork and reviewing Taxwise, I really like Taxexact; that's why I'm patiently waiting . I watched the video demo and like the functionality.

I hope state forms would show up tomorrow morning.
Thanks,

Taxed,I emailed Doug and he responded that update 11 is coming out late tonight and update 12 is in QA process. So, I'm hoping all the major issues will be fixed. I'm in the same boat as you. Everyone I know of is having software issue.
My first appointment is on this saturday. Hopefully I can print out a return without a demo watermark.
-
Good Luck Linda. Have a very successful tax season.

Taxed,
Hang in there. New update will be coming tonight. I hope that the new update will fix most of the problem
Thinking about switching to Drake Software
in Drake
Posted
I bought the Drake Software for year 2013. I used 4 different software in the last 4 years (TaxAct, Taxworks, Taxwise and TaxExact). Hope to stick with Drake for a while since I'm getting tired of learning new quirk stuff with of every software. I paid $1095 plus tax.
I downloaded the 2012 version to play with.
