  1. OneDesk is offering renewals starting at $199 for only 25 returns on their web version. Seems like they have different pricing structures that cater to your needs. Like MRichmann, I am waiting for the 2013 demo before I actually renew. Pricing is fair and I like the fact that someone who only prepares 25 returns pay less than having to purchase the entire product.

  2. If people are happy using it....good for them.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable using free software from an unknown company.

It' the "risk vs reward" syndrome. I'm not willing to risk my business just to save a few bucks.

You've said it better than I could.....I am comfortable using it so far without issues. I wasn't comfortable at first but I am using it and almost complete with all my returns and have had no issues.

  3. Then why do the majority of your posts have to do with trying to market the free software? I'm busy too, but my posts are generally different because I have better things to do then to repeat myself.

Cathy, my posts do not market the software....I feel bad everyone on here has nothing positive to say about the software I am using. I have nothing additional to comment on so I do not even come on here as often as you guys. I got a copy of the forum for my bank to get my money back for paying for TRX, so this forum has been really helpful. Everyone talks about the software they are using and it so happens that I am using this onedesk that everyone is skeptical about and I got it free. No sure why everyone thinks I am spamming, can't comprehend that. It just so happens the day I joined the forum is the same day I saw whoever advertised the free 1040 (this forum we are on now). With that said, I understand people are skeptical and I am not sure how I am marketing the software because I have yet to tell anyone to try it. I brag about getting it for free and that all my returns were accepted.

I would not classify that as marketing

  4. Bart,

I have work to do...this forum is not that important. I am not sure if you realize that it is tax season and I have clients in and out of my office. So I really don't sit on this forum everyday like some of you who have nothing else to do.

Sorry if my response took too long for you Bart....I will try to response faster next time when I get some free time:(

  5. >>IT"S FREE!!! Why not try it<< How free will it be when your clients start getting their idenity stolen?

For your information, identities can get stolen from anywhere--just in case you do not know that. Identities get stolen at the hospital, from credit card companies, the local TJMaxx in my area had a bunch of their clients identities stolen. So maybe you can do a little more research about the ways identities get stolen.

Maybe because I do Yoga, I am not so negative like the rest of you on this forum---

wow beats me why this forum has so much hate and negativity....yes TRX took our money and didn't deliver a product but life goes on....

  6. Well Mark, I am only a small tax preparer who started only 2 years ago. I have an office in Boca Raton, FL but who are you for me to prove anything to you (NOBODY). As far as I am concerned I do not have to disclose any information about myself to you or anyone else on this forum.

Plus you mean nothing to me as well, when you disappear I will disappear....I am not going to disappear because you say so. The name of my company has nothing to do with google. I am not going to waste my time and google your business either because you are a non-factor.

Why are people on this forum so mean and negative?

Hey Mark Dubin, CPA----IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO COME TO BOCA RATON, LOOK ME UP, hopefully I will expand my business and then you can research me on google****

  7. I started e-filing too, they had sent me the CD in the mail last year and I was able to download. I did not do a screen share as I really didn't need any help. All my returns have been accepted so far, I really have no complaints.

What I liked was the moment I created my account I received a follow call advising me that my free account was now active and the rep asked me if I needed training. The program is pretty easy to use and I was offered the web version as well but I declined.

I also like the fact that they didn't ask me for a credit card or personal information during the entire process and didn't sign any contract locking me in either.

I believe many of the tax preparers on this forum are not open minded---but I cannot blame them because of the whole TRX issue. I felt the same way too but I am past TRX now and I am sure many of them are too.

I am happy I gave Onedesk a chance and I will also give them my business for years to come.

Good to see someone else using the same program I am using.

  8. This is the last time I will give you any attention. Boca Tax, Danwil, mrichman33 in my opinion are the same person. All of you claim fantastic results, from the same product, within the same time frame and all started posting here on the same day. Am I the only that sees a pattern or problem here?

    >>>>>Have all your returns been accepted?<<<<<< Yes, will absolute efficiency and I'm not using your product.

    >>>>>I didn't even know this forum existed because I never had a problem with TRX until now.<<<<<< If you never had a problem with TRX you obviously weren't around before as we all have experienced one thing or another over the last four or five years. I bet you didn't even know how many times Doug has changed his company name over the last few years. Did you get your service bureau fees from him? No problems?? Seriously??

    >>>>>>>>they offer it for FREE (its called Marketing)<<<<<< Deceptive marketing maybe. I have taken some marketing classes and have a very good friend who teaches marketing and giving the farm away wasn't one of the strategies that he teaches.

Enough said I hope. Let's talk taxes, and help each other get through this season as properous as possible. Geez let's move on :wall:

Why are you so angry Terry D?....NO ONE IS TELLING YOU TO GET ONEDESK

Not sure why you have a problem with the company offering their product free or for a fee. Regardless if you had to pay for it, I am sure you still wouldn't be so receptive. Whether Onedesk IS OWNED BY TRX OR DOUG, I have been e-filing and they were all accepted. The good thing is in my situation I paid nothing AND THEY NEVER ASKED ME FOR A CREDIT CARD OR ANYTHING PERSONAL. I even checked the IRS website "refund status" and they were all received by the IRS so in my opinion this is real and all my refunds have been accepted by the IRS.

Not sure why it is deceptive marketing allowing a person to try a product before they pay for it. Please answer what is deceptive about that. All I am saying is that you do not have to be so angry. A company wants to offer a product free so let it be. Onedesk was offered to me last year when a sales rep called me and I wasn't interested because I had already paid for TRX. If the company offers their product for free, it is NOT YOUR BUSINESS. My grandma tells me "IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY NOTHING." I cannot say if they will be around, which I hope they are because I surely will be paying for the software next year only when I see the demo. I got burnt once and cannot afford that again. If people want to try it then let them try it. We are on this forum to vent just like you are and I see Mrichmann33 provided a link to her website. This forum is not only for you or it wouldn't be public and then you have the nerve telling us we work for onedesk because we are sharing the software we are using. I am a tax preparer just like you Terry and I am happy you are e-filing just like the rest of us.

  9. I understand why they offer all first time clients their product free. It is hard to sell a name that many of us do not know. By doing this, they are offering us to use the product and see if we like it as most of us are comfortable using our old software. So that is why I think they offer it for FREE (its called Marketing). When I started out, I charged less than nothing to prepare taxes until I built up my clientele. Now I have over 300 clients that trust me and will pay me higher fees because they know I have done them well in the past. I think onedesk uses the same business model. So far, I have no complaints about the product and until this day they still have not asked me for a credit card or sent me a contract to promise to pay or lock me in. And for those who claim only new people are praising the company, I didn't even know this forum existed because I never had a problem with TRX until now. I am happy to be a part of this forum because I have proof for my bank to issue me a refund. They say different stroked for different folks....many prefer to go directly to source. I am using an OLT product with a different label FOR FREE...I am sure alot of you have heard of OLTPro and whether you like OLT product or not is your business. I have no regrets giving onedesk the chance. Thank you onedesk!!!!!

  10. OK, I called onedesk tax. I spoke with Daniel his direct number is 561-900-0401 He downloaded the software and he did a screen share with and spent about an hour showing me how to use the program.

I just efiled my first NJ return. TRX cannot even tell me when they will have NJ available.

They gave me the full 1040 and Business for free with unlimited efiling.

I think this is a smart business move, they know there are a lot of us out here that needs a new software provider. If the program is good after using it for one season they know we will be back next year. It's a great way to build/explode your client base. And it just got me out of a big jam.

I recomend giving it a try.

I spoke with Daniel his direct number is 561-900-0401

So happy to see someone else using the product. Seems fine to me so far. I have maybe 56 returns transmitted and accepted. What do you think about the product? Have all your returns been accepted? It is sad to see everyone bashing this onedesk company but I understand being burnt by TRX, I was burnt too. If you are like me, I just want to get through this season.

  11. I think Danwil is an agent for this company otherwise he would not be pushing so hard on this forum. I still can't figure out how a legit business will give out free software without any commitment. He says no credit card required. So what stops people going there each year to get free software?

well I cannot speak for the company but most other companies will use the PTIN or EFIN to identify tax preparers, so I am assuming they will use that to identify us.

  12. Have you guys been able to use that free taxprep software on your desktop and e-filed Fed and states without any rejects??

I just started using the onedesk pro tax and have sent my returns through, I did about 30 already. We do not have state returns here in FL but they were all accepted except for a few that were rejected but due to my error. I corrected my errors and resubmitted and within a minute they were accepted. The software seems okay so far---will be using it this season because I have no other choice. Will look into other options in May.

  13. Yeah, 3 people all joined TODAY to inform us of how wonderful a website product that is "free". I've seen at least 2 different excuses for how it's "free". Not buying any of this.

Didn't say it was wonderful, all I said is I didn't pay for it....not sure if you posted that they are OLT based, after I read that post I checked out OLT and it is the same product just labeled differently. I am a little more confident that they are reselling an established/known product. I am happy with their service and also the product so I feel better today. Thanks for the info on OLTPRO----made me feel much better to be using a trusted product. Just hope I can get through tthis season without any hiccups. I just want to make sure my returns get accepted by the IRS and my clients get their refunds.

  14. This onedesktax website didn't exist last tax season.

No clue what they would have beta'd last year since OLTPRO (desktop) has been around at least 5 years.

OLT has been around FAR longer than that.

This entire line of posts is full of cra%.

Well Roberts I did not know about OLTPRO until OneDesk cold call me last year, so for your information I was beta testing the software. Frankly, half these companies I did not know existed. The company does not call themselve OLTPRO, they call it ONEDESK. Regardless of its existence and your perceptions, I found this forum to vent my fustrations about TRX....NOT sure what your problem is. I am not telling you to go and buy a product you don't know. I am just telling members of this forum what I am using. I am so sorry you feel this way but I am happy now and not sitting around waiting for Doug to refund me or release the full version of the software. I have clients in need of my services and that is what I am providing. I don't care who OneDesk is and how long they have been around, I got it free and I am on my way to make my seasonal money. This will be over in a few months but I am not going to turn my clients away. I find that OneDesk works and I already put 15 returns that have been accepted by the IRS. As long as I am making money and my clients are happy, I have no complaints. A software is a software and in my opinion they all perform the same function. So you can think this is cra%, I think it is making my business survive. You should do the same--unless you have no clients or unless your waiting for TRX to deliver you a GREAT product...which is not going to HAPPEN. I am angry too but you shouldn't degrade someone else's product or post. We are all on this forum to vent our fustrations and whether you approve or not is not my business. You have to find a product that works for you. Currently ONEDESK works for me and until I can do better I will. So if you can afford CCH and Proseries or Drake or OLTPRO then go for it. Good luck!!!!

  15. Friends, please please be very careful inputing your client's personal and tax data into an online software that claims to be free and you have never heard about it. You are putting your client's privacy at great risk! Any identity thief can put up a website claiming to be fee tax software and capture a mother load of data that is very hard to get otherwise!

No one does anything for fee! Would you do tax returns for free for anyone who knocks at your door!

BTW TRX has still NOT made the states (most of them) operational. I think they have washed their hands off this software for this year. May be they are getting ready to hightail out of town!

I beta tested OneDesk and received it free last year. Not sure what is fishy about it. I currently have the full version and did not pay anything for it. They didn't ask me for a credit card or anything. I just called their customer service and a rep advised me that they give all first year clients the opportunity to try it free before they convert from their old software--which seems like a great marketing tool since I don't feel comfortable paying for a product I haven't used before. They gave me complimentary training and customer service has been great so far. I also sent through a few returns and it works just as great and it is easy to use. I urge you to try it if you cannot afford to pay for another software like in my case.

  16. I don't have a problem buying from a reseller.

I was with TRX for 5 good years and a bad year. If I paid 40% off list each of those years, I still came out far ahead of buying directly.

I agree with you on this.

These resellers are selling the same product for a fraction of the price and I have been happy with purchasing from resellers. When I started out I left HRBlock and didn't have $1500 to pay for a well known product. I have been using TRX for 2 years and didn't find have a problem with it. It is unfortunate for many of us who paid for the software, but life goes on and I am using OneDesk pro software now. The platform is OLT based and since I couldn't afford to pay for OLT--I got this for free last year because I beta tested. I did pay for TRX early so I am happy to have a free product. I started using it today and have no problems so far. The only problem I have is with the IRS delayed forms but they advised me it will stay in the queue after I e-file and will transmit once the forms are released.

  17. CBSLEE,

I just completed a full return and onedesk provided me with complimentary training. The software is pretty easy to use. I did complete a schedule A and did not have to use a calculator, I haven't downloaded OLTPRO to compare apples to apples but I was able to enter a worksheet for both property and mortgage interest. The return looks good and seems right. I transmitted and the IRS already accepted---I am happy right now--not sure how I will feel later once I get into more complicated returns

  18. I wasn't able to afford another software since I hadn't made any money because of this issue. I guess I am one of the lucky who was able to get a free software because I beta tested. Not sure if they are still offering this offer but maybe a few of you can check it out. you can try searching google for onedesktax

  19. Never knew this forum existed after I started experiencing TRX issues. This is horrible, I am at lost for words for what is happening. I joined this forum to see what was going on and if anyone had any issues. I found onedesktax prior to this forum and have had their software installed since the later part of December. They offered the software free because I beta tested; however I still was unsure so I still decided to pay for TRX since I have been using them. The software is OLT based and I did not have to provide them with a credit card information which is good. I also referred a few of my CPA colleagues and they have been using the software with no issues. I was really skeptical at first but the software seems fine and I have access to 1040, business and all states. I have clients waiting for their refunds now and cannot wait for TRX so I will be trying out onedesk until TRX sort their issues out. Will continue posting and so happy I found this forum.
