I changed last year and did not have to do everything again, just reapplied and it went thru pretty quick.

Thanks for all the comments. I hate to use my laptop all the time not as quick as desktop. I could remote in but don't always have dependable wi-fi. Had not really been much of a problem till last year, for some reason my program did not ask to replace the current file most of the time so I wound up with several copies at times.

Just trying to think ahead for this coming year.

Sometimes it asks me but many times it does not. Is there a place to make sure that is does not duplicate the returns?

I have to travel quite a bit for work. How do you transfer from your desk to your laptop to work on the road? I have been exporting the file then import back but I wind up with duplicates especially after extensions have been filed.

This was a hoot reading all this banter. I really needed this after talking to about 5 different auditors today.

First get the auditor Lead Sheets this will or should explain the reasoning of the auditor. If she refuses to send these then go to the manager and send in a FOIA request. The lead sheets will have much more information than the 886-A form.

TP reitred from service as a corrections officer 2months after he qualified for retirement age 50, he Received a 1099-R for his monthly payments coded 2. He then decided to take a large distribution to pay off his house. This 100K is coded 1. Does he pay the 10% penalty since this is not a distribution of scheduled equal payments. Or since he qualifies as a PSO can he take exemption code 1 since he was 50 and a PSO. Have waivered on this but thinking he sould not have to be 10K penalty on the large distribution.

I really like how they send an email stating that Version 12.13 is now availabel for download a week to 10 days after it was released. I guess it gives them time to see if it works for those of us looking for a desperate fix. Sure have been a lot of foms updates that last 2-3 days

Just making sure I am not missing something. Tp comes to office and wants his timber loss. If you delete the Assets folder I would also suggest the you clear your recycle bin. I had to clear it before it re-loaded correctly.

Anyone having problems with froms not updating to the most current. My 1040 is stuck on V-125 when update list shows v-128 Thanks.

I am crashing more now than I was last week. Tech did a re-install a few hours ago and now things are worse for me. Hope tomorrow fixes this.

Have run the 12.5 update again with no luck. I have deleted the 1040 and re-opened it with no luck. Stuck on the 122 version

My 1040 form is on version 122 when it needs to be 126. Have updated and closed out several times but no luck. My laptop is working just not my desktop? How do I manually update this form?

#(@&*@@)!@&(&)@(&(@ Can't even do a simple 1040. If I click on any of the cute little arrows the program goes into the proverbial "program has stopped working". This is after over 6 hours with Tech Support to just be able to open returns. This really bites!!

I can not open any returns. The program will allow me to roll-over but not open. (Q@&)$%&@)($&)@#&$()Q(&$)(Q&$)(&$#)@& that's me cursing up a storm. Heck I didn't even get the letter from CCH yesterday. I really feel left out.

The hidden files were ATX files. We also changes the name of all files that were associated with ATX prior to the re-install. The tech remoted in and finally go thte re-install complete. BUT I was advised to not update the program to 12.3 at this time since it seems to be very unstable still. I can work on returns on 12.0 but not many. I was on with or on hold for Tech support for over 4 hours to get the re-install completed, it was a very fun afternoon. I was able to practice having lunch at my desk which I think we will all be doing for many months to come.

I have my laptop working after uninstall and renaming several hidden files. But I am still on hold for Tech support for my server which will not allow me to re-install after a un-install. Let you know how this goes once I get my called answered.
