  1. Back to the original topic, after I updated last night I was able to create the e-file for this return. However, I had already e-file the federal and when I went to the e-file tab to send the stand-alone state that I had created, the status said "held" and I was unable to transmit the VA return. I am not in the office this AM, so I don't know if anything has changed.

So, what happen then? did the problem solve? I ran into the same difficulties, please help. thanks

  2. You need to update your EFIN with the IRS as a reporting agent and then they will send you a letter with a 5 digit pin to use for 940/941 e-files. You also need to complete Form 8655 (Reporting Agent Authorization) for each of your clients, have them sign it and then fax to the IRS. This RAA remains in effect until you or your client revoke it.

Once set up, it really does work out great! Hope the above helps!

Nice and useful info for me, I'll fellow your instruction to get the 5-digit pin. Thanks a lot.

  3. In the return manager , uncheck the completed box. Open the 941 , creat efile. Open the return manager and check the completed box. Then go back to the 941 and close do not save it again. Also, be sure you do not have the 941 and the 940 in the same return. Each signature form has to be in its own file and efiled separately.

It worked now, thanks a lot.

  4. In all of the cases dealing with this issue, intent had a lot to do with it. Because the taxpayers intended to demolish the building, the IRS will argue it had no value, or the taxpayers gained by the demolishion. Also, if the taxpayers require it be burned to the ground rather than letting the fire department do whatever they want with it, or put a time limit on when it must be 'used' by, it is not considered the donation of a full interest. Read the cases, and not only Scharf.

I had one of these come through audit and 1. The taxpayer had an appraisal. 2. Taxpayer had a deed transferring the structure to the F.D. 2. Taxpayer had done so 2 years earlier (by the time of the audit) and FD still hadn't done anything to the building. 4. Taxpayer had a receipt from FD. 5. Auditor was a lightweight.

Thanks very much for your useful and practical info.

  5. I CREATED 941, THEN COME BACK TO CREATE 940. =====FOUND OUT "941" ON THE EFILE MANAGER SAID "REJECTED

BY EFC", ERROR CODE INDICATED "RETURN CHANGED, NEED TO RE-CREATE".

    HOW EXACTLY SHOULD I DO?

    THANKS

Thanks, KC, ROY AND GENE for your help. If t/p could get a statement of "value of training" from the fire dept, and put

  8. I don't have it, way toooooo expensive for me. I tried the demo and had the same problem you had and teck support got me out of it.

It is a good program if you have 400 to 500 returns and want to get them done faster. But is it really faster?

    :rolle

    George,

    Finally I figure it out.

    Thanks,

    Francis

    Thanks,

    Francis
