An "Affordable Care Act" question.

We were reviewing the “ObamaCare” this past Saturday and an attendee asked the following question:

If one of my children younger than 26, still in college but already employed, Can she (the student) refuse her medical coverage through her employer and continue in my insurance until she reaches 26.

He was promised a research on the issue for the answer.

The only Q&A I know is the following:

Q. I just graduated from college and don't have a job yet. How will I get insurance?
A. Adult children can now remain on their parents' insurance policy and be covered until they turn 26 years old.

But this does not give an answer to the original question from the attendee.

I will appreciate comments.

Most employers who offer HI require a waiver form to be signed by the employee if they do not want to participate in the employer sponsored plan.

But the obamacare says nothing about a waiver to meet any requirements! I don't see it as a real problem as the IRS has its own problems right now.

But I think going forward employers who offer HI will keep that documentation on file, should they get audited!

There will be some initial confusion just like with any major law change but once the dust settles I am hopeful it will settle down.

We went through similar confusion with Tax Reform Act 1986 under Pres. Reagan. Remember that??
