kcjenkins Posted February 2, 2008 Report Share Posted February 2, 2008 Form 982, Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness is being or will be revised as a result of the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act of 2007. The form is currently undergoing a revision, and is expected to be released within the next few days, the IRS said on Jan 31, 2008. Also the IRS e-file program declared Form 982 not efileable in a QuickAlert message sent out a couple of weeks ago. I expect that e-file will resume accepting Form 982 once the new version is released and the necessary format changes have been coded into IRS software.
