I told her I didn't think so since the 2 kids were already his dependents and he's been claiming them. Of course, she's NOT my client. One HRB place told her she couldn't. ann newman Posted February 8, 2008 Report Share Posted February 8, 2008 Expenses to adopt a spouse's child are not qualified adoption expenses therefore the cost of her husband adopting her children would not qualify for the adoption credit. Usually I direct my "non client" friends to the IRS forms & website for answers -- especially when I'm at home and all my research material is at the office.
