  1. I ussualy solve the problem by myself and I always post my problem on this post, then there was someone will help me because I don't have time to hold the phone line.

Here is problem solve for your folder : click on Return Manager > Forms> Customizes Master Forms> then open form Client Letter, then click Tools > Delete , then delete 2 row above the word : Federal Tax returns for .... " I got this problem, then I fix by myself.

If you have any problem, Post it on this board, someone will help you. I learned this software from everyone on this board.

    Peace.

    Tom777

Problem is... you shouldn't HAVE to post it on this board.

Yes it's great for someone that doesn't want to talk on the phone, but you should have that option.

You should be able to call the company that built your program and get help.

They should be knowledgeable of the product they built.

You should not have to wait 6 hours for help.

It's great that you can fix most problems by yourself.

However, what happens when you have a problem that no one on this board can fix?

And you can't fix it yourself?

You should always be able to refer to the makers of your product for support.

With all the time that all of you spend doing tons of returns for your clients, you shouldn't HAVE to waste time fixing technical issues yourself.

Bottom line is that it's just not your job to do that.

It's the technical support team's job to fix your program issues and if they can't help you, that's a bit ridiculous.

  2. Des ATX has a new customer support #? I have being trying to contact them through 1800 638-8291 but all get is a nice message saying that all agents are busy assisting other customer.

By the way, I will appreciate if any californian has any information about the release date of CA E-File Info.

I hope everyone have a good relaxing time before the rush.

    Thank.

    They haven't changed it.

It's still the same old number.

You will just have to wait because they are assisting other customers.

They are supporting two tax programs so they are getting double the calls.

  3. I was told by ATX customer service yesterday that this year only one EFIN was allowed for every Max license; I spoke to their data entry dept and they were not sure; I contacted their sales dept and they have not answered back. Has anyone has been able to register more than one EFIN this year with the typical 3-user Max license?

    Thanks

    J R Sandoval, EA

ATX was allowing more EFIN's as of the end of Dec.

I have personally had multiple EFIN's added for various preparers.

The data entry department just has to enter them differently before you can use both.

If you call back, tell them that they need to enter it as a sub-office in their system and then you should be able to use both.

  4. I have been with ATX for only 3 years, but they have NEVER asked me for proof or verification of my EFIN before I transmit. I'm not sure where you are getting this from. I have already efiled 5 1099's to their servers, and successfully completed their transmission test. I have been an ERO for over 15 years.

You don't need an EFIN for efiling 1099's.

And ATX just started required EFIN's this year.

However, some people go lucky and their EFIN's were already migrated over to the new system customer service is using for holding ATX customer data.

You may want to call and just make sure your EFIN is on file before you start sending 1040's.

Actually, if you are enrolled for bank products, you would not have been able to if your EFIN wasn't on file.

So if you already enrolled you would be all set.

  5. Does anyone know when the 941s and 940s will be able to be efiled? The ATX rep I talked to said they didn't know.

They are still being worked on.

The estimate is beginning of next week, but it could be a little longer if they run into any delays.

  6. Have not considered any of the bank products whatsoever but have had a few customers (very few) request to pay tax prep fee via credit card or thru their refund. Is this $15 fee modest as they say?

Lots of ATX customers used FeeCollect last year and loved it.

There are many clients out there that don't have the money or just don't want to pay until they get their refund.

You can call SBBT for more information.

    They are actually pretty helpful.

  7. Thanks Nicole! That is probably one of the easiest fixes I've had to do. But I can't help but wonder why? I have other programs that are networked and I have never had this problem. Also I have networked ATX software for several years without having this happen.

Just curious, but do you have any idea why now?

    Deb!

It's a fairly common problem, but I'm not really sure why it would all of a sudden happen.

Usually it's an IE update that causes it.

The problem started back when IE 7 became available.

  8. To correct this problem, modify the Microsoft® Internet Explorer (IE) Local intranet settings on each computer receiving this message.

To modify IE Local intranet settings

    1. Double-click the My Computer desktop shortcut.

    2. Under Other Places, click Control Panel.

    3. Double-click Internet Options.

    4. In the Internet Properties window, click the Security tab.

    5. Select Local Intranet, and then click Sites.

    6. Mark all three check boxes, and then click Advanced.

    7. Under Add this Web site to the zone, type file://<Server Name> (where <Server Name> is your server computer's name). If you do not know the name of your server, see the procedure below.

    8. Click Add, and then click OK.

    9. Click OK in each open window, and then close the Control Panel.

You will now be able to open your ATX software without receiving this error.

Follow the procedure below if you need to determine the name of your server (see step 7 above).

To determine the name of your server

    1. On the desktop of the server, right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.

    2. Click the Computer Name tab.

    3. Note your server's name as it appears in the Full computer name field.

  9. Does anyone know when the 941s and 940s will be able to be efiled? The ATX rep I talked to said they didn't know.

Any ATX rep should be able to give you an estimated date.

If they don't know... they should find out.

  10. Actually, I suggested the letter from last year and was told that I needed the letter from this year. I am going to send them last year's letter; if that is not good enough, they can go on line and look for my ERO status. I was trying to give them a chance, but I think, like Old Jack, I will be looking for new software for next year.

That's funny because while I was there I got last year's letters from customers and sent those to the department that enters the EFIN's and it worked fine.

Might as well try it and see if it works.

  11. I have 3 different W-2 files that were successfully transmitted to the SSA. On my E-File Manager in ATX it says "Rejected by EFC" because the return was changed after the e-file was created. Now what?

As long as they were successfully transmitted to the SSA through their website, you are all set.

ATX will says Rejected because you changed them.

The status for W2's in ATX doesn't matter though because they aren't transmitted through ATX.

  12. I may be wrong, but I don't think you can replace your EIN with a PTIN - I think that they only replace SSNs. Unfortunately, your EIN is still going to be out there.

You are correct... the PTIN is to replace SSN's.

However, I believe most returns require an SSN or an EIN so if you had a PTIN, you could put that in the SSN line and leave the EIN blank.

That's for individual returns at least.

As far as business returns, I'm not sure what they require for preparer identification numbers... except that MA requires your EIN.

  13. Can I put my EIN as 16-124XXXX on my client returns and transmit to IRS ? This is for security my EIN.

    Please advise ! Thanks

    Tom

    NY

I don't even think you will be able to create the efile that way.

But even if you can, I am 99.9% sure the IRS will Reject it because they actually verify identification numbers.

If you don't want to use your EIN, apply for a PTIN... that's what they are used for.

  14. I did finally get on as ADMIN, but now I find out that they no longer have a record of my EFIN, or my EIN, and they have to have me fax them the letter from the IRS showing that I am registered to EFILE this year. Now as we all know, the IRS is not sending out those letters. I am not currently enrolled in e-services (I keep forgetting to change my password often enough because I don't use this service much.) It will take up to 28 days for IRS to mail me a new confirmation number so I can print out a summary letter showing my e-fin for ATX to set me up over again. What is the point in staying with the same service? I was a little ticked before, but I am FURIOUS now!

Do you have a letter from last year?

    That should work as well.

  15. Pacun, I believe the IRS will no longer send those letters. As long as you efiled one return the previous year you should be good to go. I think this is what was said previously.

    Eli

    That's exactly correct.

IRS is not sending letters anymore.

But you can check the status on the IRS website.

  16. Nicole:

Thanks for that explanation. I think I'm beginning to understand, although maybe I'm underrating MAX.

I do prepare 1120, 1120S, 941, W-2, etc in Zillion forms. I find that there is some linking in Zillion forms - for example when I prepare W-2 forms it will automatically calculate the 940 & W-3. But if I understand you correctly, I guess I could get more linking of ancillary forms when preparing corp returns if I used TTO with MAX - is that correct?.

This quesiton came up again with me when I noticed some people asking questions about W-2 forms, because with Zillion Forms I was preparing W-2 forms & related reports back in the last week of December.

W2 items link in Zillionforms, but not business returns.

If you are going to do corporate or partnership returns, you should use MAX.

Unless you are only doing a few, in which case you could purchase PRS returns.

  17. I use the Free AVG AntiVirus program. It's worked fine for me. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/

    Eli

My motto is "You get what you pay for".

I have not had good experiences with AVG in the past.

I have also talked to a lot of customers with serious viruses that were using AVG at the time.

Nothing is going to pick up everything, but I wouldn't use AVG for my own computer.

  18. I've posted this question before but am still puzzled by the answers I received, so thought I'd post again on this string concerning 1040 Office.

I was considering Total Tax Office, but after comparing features it seemed to me that Total Kleinrock Office (with Zillion Forms) coupled with 1040 Office was the better deal. That's what I bought the past two years, although I'm still on the fence about what to do this year. Total cost is a couple of hundred dollars less and I'm still not sure what I may be missing by buying this combo rather than Total Tax Office. Can anybody enlighten me?

Total Kleinrock Office and Total Tax Office are exactly the same as far as research is concerned.

The only difference is the tax program.

With TKO, you get Zillionforms and with TTO, you get MAX.

Since you were buying 1040 Office anyways, the difference would be no business forms.

Although you would have them in your Zillionforms but you wouldn't be able to do a return before the forms in Zillionforms don't link from form to form.

Basically, TTO is made for customers who would need MAX and the research.

  19. Hello! And thank you for using the board! My name is Alex, I am one of the 'former' Caribou agents that diligently answered your questions for the last three years every weekday night until closing! And a special Hello to my Boss Man, William. :) I will be looking over the boards now and then and help where I can. I might not be quick to respond with the job looking and such but I will do my best when I can. Feel free to ask me anything.

P.S. - Hello to Nicole and Danielle as well.

    Welcome to the board.

  20. What about the 1040 Kleinrock and 1040 Expreess Answers? Are they sending books or is just online?

    Thank you again.

I think I need to know how to post. This is my second time. I don't want to use the whole screen for a post. If this takes lot of space please let me know the way to do it

There is still a 1040 book but I don't remember the name of it.

It would still come in the mail but I'm not sure which program have it.

I really didn't have much to do with Sales.

You should call the Sales department at ATX for this question.

  21. I think this was so that people would take the training seminars ATX was putting on. Just another way to make more money. Saved on literature & made money on the classes.

    Eli

Actually I had been told that some users would get a user guide. I'm not sure if max users are included or just total office users. I do know that if you have the 1040 programs you won't get one unless you purchase it separately.
