  1. Problem is... you shouldn't HAVE to post it on this board. Yes it's great for someone that doesn't want to talk on the phone, but you should have that option. You should be able to call the company that built your program and get help. They should be knowledgeable of the product they built. You should not have to wait 6 hours for help. It's great that you can fix most problems by yourself. However, what happens when you have a problem that no one on this board can fix? And you can't fix it yourself? You should always be able to refer to the makers of your product for support. With all the time that all of you spend doing tons of returns for your clients, you shouldn't HAVE to waste time fixing technical issues yourself. Bottom line is that it's just not your job to do that. It's the technical support team's job to fix your program issues and if they can't help you, that's a bit ridiculous.
  2. They haven't changed it. It's still the same old number. You will just have to wait because they are assisting other customers. They are supporting two tax programs so they are getting double the calls.
  3. ATX was allowing more EFIN's as of the end of Dec. I have personally had multiple EFIN's added for various preparers. The data entry department just has to enter them differently before you can use both. If you call back, tell them that they need to enter it as a sub-office in their system and then you should be able to use both.

    EFIN incorrect

You don't need an EFIN for efiling 1099's. And ATX just started required EFIN's this year. However, some people go lucky and their EFIN's were already migrated over to the new system customer service is using for holding ATX customer data. You may want to call and just make sure your EFIN is on file before you start sending 1040's. Actually, if you are enrolled for bank products, you would not have been able to if your EFIN wasn't on file. So if you already enrolled you would be all set.
  5. Well, bonehead or not, you make beautiful little girls Hopefully, for your wife's sake, they don't act like you... hehe.

They are still being worked on. The estimate is beginning of next week, but it could be a little longer if they run into any delays.
  7. Lots of ATX customers used FeeCollect last year and loved it. There are many clients out there that don't have the money or just don't want to pay until they get their refund. You can call SBBT for more information. They are actually pretty helpful.
  8. Haha... that's absolutely adorable!
  9. It's a fairly common problem, but I'm not really sure why it would all of a sudden happen. Usually it's an IE update that causes it. The problem started back when IE 7 became available.
  10. Haha... we used to use that around here actually... when we were 12....
  11. To correct this problem, modify the Microsoft® Internet Explorer (IE) Local intranet settings on each computer receiving this message. To modify IE Local intranet settings 1. Double-click the My Computer desktop shortcut. 2. Under Other Places, click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Internet Options. 4. In the Internet Properties window, click the Security tab. 5. Select Local Intranet, and then click Sites. 6. Mark all three check boxes, and then click Advanced. 7. Under Add this Web site to the zone, type file://<Server Name> (where <Server Name> is your server computer's name). If you do not know the name of your server, see the procedure below. 8. Click Add, and then click OK. 9. Click OK in each open window, and then close the Control Panel. You will now be able to open your ATX software without receiving this error. Follow the procedure below if you need to determine the name of your server (see step 7 above). To determine the name of your server 1. On the desktop of the server, right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties. 2. Click the Computer Name tab. 3. Note your server's name as it appears in the Full computer name field.

Any ATX rep should be able to give you an estimated date. If they don't know... they should find out.

That's funny because while I was there I got last year's letters from customers and sent those to the department that enters the EFIN's and it worked fine. Might as well try it and see if it works.

    W-2 filing

As long as they were successfully transmitted to the SSA through their website, you are all set. ATX will says Rejected because you changed them. The status for W2's in ATX doesn't matter though because they aren't transmitted through ATX.

    EIN #

You are correct... the PTIN is to replace SSN's. However, I believe most returns require an SSN or an EIN so if you had a PTIN, you could put that in the SSN line and leave the EIN blank. That's for individual returns at least. As far as business returns, I'm not sure what they require for preparer identification numbers... except that MA requires your EIN.

    EIN #

I don't even think you will be able to create the efile that way. But even if you can, I am 99.9% sure the IRS will Reject it because they actually verify identification numbers. If you don't want to use your EIN, apply for a PTIN... that's what they are used for.

Do you have a letter from last year? That should work as well.

    E filing

That's exactly correct. IRS is not sending letters anymore. But you can check the status on the IRS website.
  19. W2 items link in Zillionforms, but not business returns. If you are going to do corporate or partnership returns, you should use MAX. Unless you are only doing a few, in which case you could purchase PRS returns.

My motto is "You get what you pay for". I have not had good experiences with AVG in the past. I have also talked to a lot of customers with serious viruses that were using AVG at the time. Nothing is going to pick up everything, but I wouldn't use AVG for my own computer.
  21. Total Kleinrock Office and Total Tax Office are exactly the same as far as research is concerned. The only difference is the tax program. With TKO, you get Zillionforms and with TTO, you get MAX. Since you were buying 1040 Office anyways, the difference would be no business forms. Although you would have them in your Zillionforms but you wouldn't be able to do a return before the forms in Zillionforms don't link from form to form. Basically, TTO is made for customers who would need MAX and the research.
  22. I find it somewhat entertaining that most of you have multifunction printers when ATX doesn't support them. But all of you are saying they work great, which is awesome.
  23. There is still a 1040 book but I don't remember the name of it. It would still come in the mail but I'm not sure which program have it. I really didn't have much to do with Sales. You should call the Sales department at ATX for this question.
  24. Actually I had been told that some users would get a user guide. I'm not sure if max users are included or just total office users. I do know that if you have the 1040 programs you won't get one unless you purchase it separately.
