  1. Had learned from years ago that the "manual update" is much better than the automatic update feature. You still can select all forms, then hit download.
  2. Have used ATX since AMTAX went away. Like the actual "form" preparation like we used to do in pencil and paper days. Remember the spreading out of the forms and doing an assembly line in order to mail out???? This year I did need to call in 3 different times for tech support and did not wait long for an answer, in fact the one time involved where they had to connect with my computer to see what was happening and the problem was a corrupt file which they walked me thru and was able to correct. I do not like taking the time to call in but if I'm at a standstill, I have no choice. Granted, with the changeover to CCH, there is always going to be "changes" that we may not like at first but feel I can get used to, I really like the capability of jumping right to the IRS website to check on a form that I'm working on to get a quick answer when the hour is late. I checked out many "other" companies and when it gets down to it, ATX offers the forms, the format that I like to use and the price is alot less than others considering the total package that I want. Am planning to renew MAX, but won't address until after 4/15, have a couple melt-down days and then proceed with extensions. Also, glad I found the un-official community. Good info for all.
  3. New union electrician client just went thru a Federal audit in December for 2004. Union hall located 70 miles from EE residence one way. EE gets orders from hall the day before and then reports direct to work site which could be 100 miles away or more. Auditor stated that 70 miles roundtrip would be considered commuting, therefore disallowed as a business mileage deduction. Question is where did the auditor come up with the 70 mile round trip disallowance?? Do they just pick this out of the air or is there a statute that designates a flat 35 mile one way commute rule? Has anyone else experienced this with their union construction clients? Commuting is not deductible but just can't understand why the auditor did this.

    MN ACKs??

No acks on MN, just 23 rejects.......knew it was too good to be true!
  5. Didn't the state refunds automatically roll over from prior year in the 2006 program if the people itemized? Does any MN preparers recall?

    Minnesota efiling

Frustration is an understatement on MN e-file, last year I was receiving acks as early as 1-24. Granted we are able to file the Federal and get one refund going, but now when we finally get approved (Feb 1 is long gone), we have to go back into each and every one of the returns that are still waiting for the MN e-file, gear them up and send. My list of "pending" is growing, I don't know about yours, but eventually it will take an entire day in Feb just to catch up all the MN returns. What really stinks is looking at the list of approved programs for e-filing on the MN Revenue website shows majority were approved back in Dec of '07. Helloooooooooooo ATX!!!!
  7. Have not considered any of the bank products whatsoever but have had a few customers (very few) request to pay tax prep fee via credit card or thru their refund. Is this $15 fee modest as they say?
