  1. Have 1099 DIV with Cash liquidation distributions in box 8 of $1220 and Noncash liquidation distributions of $11 in box 9. I am not using ATX this year, I made the !@#$%^&*()_ to use TRX Alliance TaxWise this year and I am unable to find where to enter these amounts on the tax return. I am unable to pull up a 1099 DIV on TRX Taxwise.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

  2. I have never had that problem with scores of those forms. You could try, though, to adjust the margin setting. Go to Print Alignment and try adjusting the top margin and or the row spacing and/or the space between. If there is an extra line, it will throw out a blank sheet.

I did as you suggested and now it works perfect, no more wasted paper. I never knew that feature existed after six years of wasting paper. Thanks for your help.

It is pulling one sheet at a time but in between each form it pulls a blank sheet and prints only one line and wasting my paper.

  4. This has always been what I consider a problem ever since I have been using ATX. Everytime I print either W-2's or 1099's, there is always a wasted sheet of paper in between each form that is printed. Does anyone else have this problem and can it be fixed. I've always wanted to ask this question just never got around to it. Thanks.

  5. Mariebeth, your attachment isn't working for me. I don't know if it's the way you did it or if it's on this end. I have a problem with the print on my screen and I don't know why. I have a 17" (I think it's plasma) wide and the print overlaps sometimes. I clicked on your attachment but I can't open it. The paperclip for the attachment overlaps the second letter "R"in the word "CORRECTING". Again I don't know if it's because of how you did it or if it's on my end.

  6. Made a mistake on first qtr 941 2008 and just found the error. Over stated total wages by $300. We have already filed the fourth quarter 941 and 941C is supposed to be filed with the 941 for the quarter in which the error was discovered. Can I just file a 941C by itself instead of waiting until April to make the adjustment. The W-2's, 940 and SUTA reports won't match with 941s.

  7. Client sold property in 2006 and used the proceeds ($80,000) to set up life insurance annuity. During 2008 they lost about $22,000 and their broker told them that they need to get out. So they take a distribution of about $58,000 and they receive a 1099R showing total distribution with code 1. The question, is there a loss they can take on Sch-A for the $22,000. I don't think they made any other contributions to the plan after it was set up but do know there were no deductible contributions.

Another question, can this qualify for a rollover if it was rolled over in to a CD IRA within 60 days?

  8. I decided to use TRX this year instead of ATX because of the price. I wasn't sure what I was buying when I orderd TRX untill the CD arrived, YIKES!!! TaxWise... It really didn't hurt that much because I was already familiar with the program since I worked with it during my years with the IRS. The only problem I'm having now is that the returns stopped rolling over and I'm having to reenter ALL information. Talk about mistakes with SSN's and names not matching and rejects. Too busy to call support cause each time I call i'm on hold for two hours. I found out that email works better especially if you don't get a response, just email everyone on the staff multiple times, you'll get a response ANDsupport quickly.

  9. Hello cientax, did you receive your software yet? If not please e-mail and I will get the tracking number for you and see where it is at. My e-mail is [email protected] I do not know who flash tax is either.

Let me know if I can help Doug Hughes

Doug, I sent you email yesterday after reading this response. I HAVE NOT received a single thing since I ordered AND paid last week. Today is friday jan 16, 2009 and I ordered last friday with Carlos and have talked to him since but still have NOTHING. Can you help today or tomorrow????? Please respond with email and not here on this blog. I am on the phone right now but TRX but am on hold and have been for the last TWENTY MINUTES. Can YOU help???????????

  10. Does anyone know if TRXALLIANCE is same as TRXPRO? I got the post cards from the same address and with same phone numbers but not sure if same company?are they also part of CCH which bought out ATX and TAXWise. Also I received postcard from company called Flashtax 1040LLC which offers the exact same thing as TRX with the same prices. Are they also part of CCH MONOPLY? I switched from ATX to TRX because of pricing and because TRX offers more for the money. TaxWise I never have liked. When I worked for IRS years ago, that is what the IRS used for preparing returns and it was not very user friendly. I ordered the TRX program last week and still have not received anything from them. When I call support, I keep getting transfered then put on hold the when support comes back, they can't help or they take forever and by phone battery dies before we finish what we started.

  11. I requested a demo from TRXPro on 01/05 and still have not gotten that either. They keep sending me emails trying to get me to sign up. I've called them twice (Kathy Hughes - the one sending email) and left voice mails explaining why I got the demo - not to prepare taxes, but to better help our customers and she still sends me email.

This was a big topic last year where most of us using ATX were receiving post cards from TRXALLIANCE offering "MORE" at lesser price than ATX or any other programs out there on the market, so we order the program but now have to wait for a confirmation # for them to ship. I've been on the phone most of the day and still nothing after paying almost $500 for the package. Wonder if I'll get my money's worth on this deal. Stock market, here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Anyone using TRXALLIANCE?.

Has anyone ordered the program and what is the outcome? Have you received your software as of yet? I ordered friday and still waiting on confirmation nubmer for them to be able to sent the software.

  13. Do you use QuickBooks or a write-up software for bookkeeping anyway? See if something you already work with has a payroll module available.

I do use QB and the program I purchased is supposed to be compatible with QB and other programss but like I said, there are no instructions with the program I bought and no more tech support. I don't want to buy the QB because it is too expensive for only two clients per month.

  14. Who does payroll for their clients and also writes checks from their office to issue to the employees? I'm looking for check writing software for some of my clients.

I purchased one software last year but I think they went out of business or bankrupt or whatever, because they changed their phone numbers and the phone numbers they give now just hang up on me or the call terminates. I bought the software at Office Depot and the name is "Home Office & Small Business Check-Writing Suite" which works ok but there is no instructions and now, no tech support and cannot find the check stock needed. When I did call last year for help I was on the line for more than an hour with tech support. The program was fairly inexpensive, about $70 but no longer can use it. Name of the company is AVANQUEST but they don't answer and the call terminates.

I need a new check writing suite, can anyone recommend a decent program that I can purchase at one of the local office supply stores (not online)? Thanks.

  15. According to your first post, she was a WI resident until she moved to TX in October. At that time, did she intend to return to her WI home? Did she expect her stay in TX to be temporary? We don't have enough information to determine if she was a part-year or full-year resident of WI for 2006.

If she received a CP2000 for 2006, doesn't that imply that JH or her son DID file her 2006 return but that it omitted some income with was reported to the IRS? She was certainly a full-year resident of the USA and needs to report all her income for that year on her federal return.

I'm actually working on both years 2006 and 2007. The 2006 return I don't have a problem in determining whether she was part year or full year resident of WI. The WI returns were not filed but they failed to include all the income on the federal return, thus the CP 2000 from IRS. She moved to Texas and has no intention of moving back to WI because they expect her to pass away soon in the nursing home here in Texas. She lived in Texas the entire year 2007 and received income from IRA distritutions during 2007 that came from a credit union and from a pension that are located in WI and had state inocme tax wihheld. I'm trying to determine if this income is taxable and reportable as WI income on the state tax return since she was no longer a WI resident in 2007.

  16. Not enough information. Since WI has Income Tax and Texas does not; or course, you need to file the 1NPR. However, I have a similar client who receives Wisconsin Retirement Benefits, but is in a Nursing Home in Colorado. After all of her medical bills, etc.; she doesn't owe any tax to anyone. After filing this way for a couple of years, I advised the POA to stop withholding on her Pension. We did, however, file a return last year in order to get the stimulus. Every set of circumstances is different.

We are working on her 2006 WI return because it was never filed when her son took the paperwork to Jackson Hewitt. Now she has received a CP200o from IRS for not reporting all her income on her federal return. There were no medical expenses until 2007 so she could not itemize in 2006. I don't know what other information I left out of the first post that is needed to determine if the income is WI source for 2007 if she didn't live and was no longer a resident of WI.

  17. I have a new client that moved from WI in Oct 2006 to Texas into a nursing home and was receiving IRA RMD's during 2007. She had state and federal withholding from her distributions. Since she was no longer a resident of WI, are the distributions from her IRA considered WI source and required to pay WI tax on these distributions. We will be filing the 1NPR form.

  18. Does he have other "activities"? Do you have to give this K-1 an activity number to distinguish it from others?

I don't know if there are other activities but this is the only K-1. We now have received an amended K-1 that shows this is not a Geneal Partner but a Limited Partner and some of the amounts were changed also but it has no effect on the input. We now know that this is passise because the partner is a limited partner. Now we get a message that the $18000 contributionn to the SEP exceeds the maximum deductible contribution. Which amounts are used for determining what the compensation is for the computation for the deduction? Since the ordinary income of $102612 is passive and the Guaranteed payments of $24342 are Non Passive, which do we use to determine the deduction amount for the SEP?

It's the message that I get when I check the return and when I click on the message it takes me to the line on the input screen where there is SEP that the message says additional information required because it's not linked. It doesn't appear to be critical because the message is not red, but I don't know.

    Thanks.

  19. The partner, I guess, is an attorney in a LLP with other attorneys. For input into the K-1 worksheet purposes, is this a passive activity? I did not check the box for Passive Activity, but when I check the return, I get the message that the K-1 is not linked and additional information is needed. This partner is a General Partner according to the K-1 and I checked the box for General Partner. What other information would be required. The only thing I can think of is the check the box for passive activity.

I checked the return again and when I click on the message it takes me to line 13Q where there is $18000 contribution to a Sep. When I entered the amount on the input sheet, it did not carryover to line 28 of the return. Is there something else I need to do. I did enter this amount on the worksheet for line 28 and it then entered the mount on line 28 of the return but it still tells me that it is not linked.
