Also do you really want to be bogged down doing EIC returns? I will do them but in no way will I try to solicit them or bend over backwards......unless I see potential in this person becoming a more profitable client and is just having a down year.

I agree taxxcpa

When you get to a point in your testing to share your findings I would honored if you shared it with me. [email protected]

179 is not allowed on rental last I checked.

It may be common, but ATX has some ground to make up in the customer confidence department.
DING DING DING......WE HAVE A WINNER

Am I the only one that feels a late November release is not acceptable given the issues present in 2012 and the lack of progress to improve those in the beta release? Or am I smoking some funny stuff?

Identity theft. Good luck with the IRS being closed. I would paper file and as soon as they reopen call.

I regard calculting P&I as a waste of time. The only penalty I let any program clculate is the Estimated Tax Penalty. I tell the cleint approximately what the p&I will be and advise them to wait for the notice.
Waste of time? It takes about 10 seconds.

I am surprised this many people keep assets updated during the year. I just plug them in when the taxes are completed.

ATX 13 runs no faster than 2012. Just try a larger return.

I calculate the penalty and interest. For 1040 it shows full amount on 1040-v and the interest and penalty show on bottom of page 2.

Until I see audits from the IRS on a schedule D I am going to continue matching the total sales on the 1099-B to the total proceeds on 8949-Schedule D. They receive the 1099s now with the basis they can figure it out.

Does anyone know if forms ordered online are being shipped during the shut-down
Why do you need a form in October?
-
It's amazing how much each ATX user's experience varies. I had to enter about 50 stock transactions on Form
8949 yesterday and had slight delays between each data entry field (less than a second).
So what is fine if you do not enter each stock transaction? I net short and long term trades.

it is a little better but still close to p2p
-
just go to the IRS.gov website and request the forms especially the pink copies
-
I have only seen delays of 3-4 seconds after getting our computers off the domain and making them peer to peer.
-
After the 15 second delay with input today and no sign of correction going forward I will most likely be leaving ATX. It took 3 hours to do a return today that should have taken no more than an hour.

What shortfalls does the conversion to Drake have? I know 2012 will be a whole new ballgame but would like to hear how past conversions went.
I have the 2011 Demo and had thought the software looked very cheap but when showing it to clients (since we do interactive taxes with them) they had no issue as it went smooth and was easy for them to follow. Since it has passed the first sniff test I am curious about issues Drake users have. I spoke with the sales person today and point blank asked....When you have a customer leave regardless of where they came from what are you hearing the biggest issue is. He told me fixed asset entry. I am curious if anyone out here can shed some light on issues or shortcomings Drake might have? Thanks in advance for your help.

Drake has the Gruntworks option (for additional fee) that does some of the scanning and populating. I think we had an extensive thread here on that previously. But it is nowhere close to $30K???
I was told Drake was only $1200. What do you not get for $1200?
-
I just do it as part of my business. If the client ask a question I try to answer. If I feel it is beyond the scope of what I do I will let them know there might be an additional hourly fee.

You could always put it there then use the adjustment section below.

Sorry. I guess Jack is having some problem in his life that is making him short-tempered and not very courteous right now. I'm hoping he gets to feeling better real soon.
He cant help it. He is obviously a very self serving individual who likes to make himself feel better. You take him to task or offer an opinion different than his and he does not know how to react.

You are way behind the ball on this one. Old news.
I guess I should consider myself lucky for not getting that response any sooner than I did.
