  1. We're still running Windows XP. Naturally we have plenty of stability issues. But this morning was abnormally dysfunctional. One of our standalone workstations couldn't run ATX 2013 anymore. It appeared the update was applied, but the server service just vanished. The files were gone: C:Program FilesCommon FilesCCH Small Firm ServicesATX 2013 Server*.* ... except for the file "local.config", and also the registry entry was gone: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesSfs.ServerHost.exe I restored these files and registry entries from an identical machine that had successfully updated to 13.4.1, and the errant machine now works fine.

    13.4

Reading your stuff on this forum (as a long-time lurker), I can see that's true. Sadly I'm having trouble getting the owner to commit to an upgrade to Win7. Doubly sadly, I believed CCH's chart of system minimums that I reviewed over the summer. That the "ATX 2013 Service" that governs ATX 2013 can't stay running for more than a few hours at a time, is enough of an indicator to me that the software wasn't designed for XP. We literally have different error indicators on each machine in the office that runs ATX 2013... and these machines are the same hardware, bought in one batch from Dell a few years ago. Thanks, Jack. I'll have to soldier on.

    13.4

Hello, folks. We're using standalone installations on XP. During the auto-update this morning to 13.4, we ran into a hang on each machine. The InstallShield Wizard window was about 2/3rds of the way through the progress bar, and it said: Installing package Removing Windows Firewall Rules This sat there for about 5-10 minutes before we lost patience with it and cancelled the installer. Note that the installer still didn't cancel; by clicking "Cancel" we got a confirming dialog box, but the InstallShield Wizard window remained in place, and after another 5 minutes I just stopped the process via Task Manager. This problem remained constant regardless if XP's default firewall was set ON or OFF. Still, when restarted, ATX 2013 claimed it was now at version 13.4.0.23, forms version 424. And it seems to function. So... did the install actually complete? Why did it stall?
