  1. Thank you Margaret! And rest assured, I will more than likely be seeking help once in awhile here :) I already feel like I know a good starting amount, from all that I've learned from the customers over 6 years of working with ATX. It was surely fun for me :) Kerry can attest to that :) He got stuck sitting near me, a couple years in a row :P

  2. Hey Danielle!

How is the smartest person (after KC) that I know?

I hope you and your little guy are doing well, I can't believe he is 14 months old!!!

    Kerry

    Heya Kerry!!

He is wonderful! Been walking a couple months now and babbling incessantly. How are those beautiful girls of yours? I am doing well, headed back to college this fall for ... get this ... Accounting. See what ATX did to me? :P Here's a picture of my ham:

  3. Just wanted to pop in and say I hope everyone's tax season is going well! I have certainly felt vacant not answering customer support calls from you all this tax season.

I've been busy running around chasing my now 14 month old. (Good lord it's been that long already!)

Good to see this board still very active :) And to any former ATXers, or VMSUSers, I miss ya'll! :)

  4. My doggie wags with her whole body, so I have to in response. It does do wonders!

Oh my goodness doesn't it though! Dogs are wonderful things for therapy. My parents have a standard poodle that she just gets so excited when I come home she can turn a horrible day into a great one.

  5. Thanks Danielle, I wish you could still help too. How's Cody? Did you adapt to motherhood with grace? Hope all is well and keep checking on us.

    Karen

He's doing great! Thanks for asking. :) In fact, here's a picture of him from a few weeks back. Hard to believe he'll be 5 months old soon. He's a talker, much like his mother. I am inclined to think I'm gonna regret encouraging him to talk here in about a year ;)

  6. Close any return you have open.

In the return manager, click the Forms menu, then click "Customize Master Form".

In the find box, type "Billing" and you'll be able to make changes to the master billing schedule.

Remember to save the form before closing :)

Then, any time you add your billing schedule to a return, you'll see the changes you made.

    Hope that helps, Tom!

  7. OK...So I know I am supposed to update daily if not multiple times each day....but I have been busy with non-tax related issues....so just now updating for first time in a week.....It has been "Updating Forms" for 45 minutes and is only at 49%...Is this normal?

Jeesh....My punishment for not updating daily, I suppose!

It sounds like it's updating all 10000 forms at once, Bob. In which case, you've a longer haul in front of you than you realize. The next time you open your program, it's going to appear to "stall" as it's processing those updates. Trust me, leave it be. It needs to process 10000 forms when it opens the program as you just downloaded them. That is probably going to take upwards of 30 minutes.

What I would recommend is going to your Preferences and setting up the update to only update specific forms and states, then using the Automatic update. It's an improvement they made this year which I wholeheartedly am in love with.

Let me know if you have any problems.

  8. But is there a way to do that when the page I wish to move is not in the "group". For instance, I put the tax summary between the tax return forms and the supporting schedules. It makes a nice break between those pages. Is there a way to move forms/schedules/letters from one "group" to another "group"?

    Maribeth

Ahh ok. No, there isn't a way to move them from group to group. The group itself has to remain intact. I do agree with you, that Tax Summary is a great page to break things up with.

  9. We did it just a little differently but still time-consuming. We printed them all to pdf, then opened each pdf and deleted and rearranged the forms. Still a long process. My biggest prayer to the ATX programmers would be the ability to print returns in my order and not in their order.

    Maribeth

This is doable, but unfortunately not on a default (or global) setting. I would definitely recommend putting in the suggestion for that via the myatx.com webpage :)

As johnmac said, just drag and drop the items in the Print Manager in the order you'd like to see them printed.

  10. Yes, the client does have Sch C with vehicle expenses. The vehicle information page prints, I just can't figure out how to get the lines I added to print. I imagine it's something to do with changing the print range, but I can't figure out how to do it. I ran into the same problem in past years when I tried to number the pages. It sure makes it a lot easier to discuss the organizer over the phone with clients who have questions if you can refer to a page number.

    To answer your question MontanaEA:

    1. Navigate to the page you made the additions to.

    2. Click Tools and then click Unprotect.

    3. Click Tools, then click Form Tools, and click Define Name.

    4. Click the radio button for Local Names.

    5. In the left hand box, click "Print_Area".

    6. In the lower right, change the Formula from:

    'Business Vehicle'!$A$4:$AS$44

    to

    'Business Vehicle'!$A$4:$AS$50

That will ensure up to row 50 is printed.

If you need to extend the columns out further, you can change that as well.

    For example:

    'Business Vehicle'!$A$4:$AU$50

Take caution with this however, as changing the print range on larger sections will affect the number of pages needed to print, so it may not be as simple as above. :)

    Hope that helps!

  11. I think you'll find that a few of us former employees crop up here, especially some of us who had been with the company awhile. Spending time with William really really taught us to care for the customer base. And frankly, we love you guys! :)

Edit: And I for one owe everyone a thank you for giving me a solid direction to go in life :)
