  1. I was wondering if anyone uses ATX software running on an Apple computer. I know you can run Windows on an Apple so I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if it works OK. Any input would be appreciated. . .thanks
  2. Anybody have any suggestions for tax return folders other than Nelco. . .they're getting a little expensive. Thanks
  3. I have an S- corp shareholder who has about 40K in basis (stock and debt). He has a 169K loss for '08 on his K-1. I know we can only pick the 40K on his personal return, but does anyone know if there is a way to report this in the ATX software? IRS instructions say to attach a schedule to the return showing basis, but I also have the excess loss to carryforward. Just wondering if ATX will handle this. . .thanks
  4. Have a question regarding seasonal tax help with ATX. In the past it's just been me doing all the tax work in my office. I've had it with the workdays going from 8am-midnight. I'm going to look at hiring someone (maybe college intern) to help with taxes next year. I'm looking for suggestions re: how ATX works in this environment. Would it be best to set up some kind of network (would wireless network work?) or use stand alone computers. I worked for a firm for twenty years and the procedure there was the staff accountants would do the work and print out the return for review. I would like to work around printing out the return for review (pretty much have a paperless office) and be able to review on screen. I would appreciate anyone in the same situation giving me some tips on how you handle this. I understand with ATX Total Tax Office which I use I can have up to 3 users. Thanks in advance
  5. Could you elaborate on that process. . .I'm pretty new with ATX and I'm not sure exactly what your saying. . .thanks
  6. Has anyone talked to ATX about prior year amounts no showing up on the 2008 Tax Organizer? I'd like to know if there is a plan to fix this and when, or if they are just going to let it slide.
  7. Does any one know how to change all the organizers so they print using "I, me etc" instead of "We, our etc". I went to the customize master forms to see if I could change it there, but it doesn't offer the option in the wizard like it does when you edit a federal tax letter within a return. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  8. I don't see any odd codes. . .no RR retirement, I used code 7 which it was. I looked on the 1099-R "Summary Total" sheet. Somehow on the "Remaining Taxabel Amount" line the amount of the gross distribution is there. So this is subtracted from the the taxable amount, resulting in the Total taxable amount to be $0. I have no idea how that amount got on that line. Seems like a glitch, but this return had 4 other 1099-R's and they all worked fine. Any other ideas?
  9. I have a client who received a 1099-R for an IRA distribution. I entered the amounts correctly in the ATX software (Gross amount from box 1 and taxable amount from box 2a. However, when I look at the form 1040 line 15a the gross amount is correct but the amount on 15b is blank. So of course I get a letter from the IRS saying this amount is missing. I reviewed my input in the software and it all looks correct (nothing different than I normally do). Is there something I could have marked or not marked? Any ideas? Anyone think it would do any could to actually try and call ATX? Thanks Rick
  10. In ATX I received an error message after e-filing: It said that if you have a taxpayer who dies (filing single) the personal rep information must be entered. I know it has to go on form 1310 if receiving a refund, but this taxpayer owes. Can any one tell me where this infor is entered in the ATX software. Thanks in advance
  11. Has anyone else had trouble accessing your MYATX website? I can from my home computer but not at work. If you've had the same problem and found a correction, please let me know
