  1. From your question, I'm not sure if you mean working for a presidential campaign committe, or working at an election site. It's taxable either way. If it is working at the polls, it goes on line 21, other income. Do the bunny hop and on the list of other income, you will find "precinct election board duty".

  2. You and Don are certainly in my prayers. I had the old GB out in May 07, laproscopic, out patient, laid around a couple of days and that was pretty much it. However, I know Don has other health issues which probably make any type of surgery a more serious situation than for someone in relatively good health. God Bless, and keep us posted.

  3. KC, I've been away and just read your news. You and your husband are in my prayers. I have been on both sides of the prayer fence (praying for and prayed for) and do know that prayer works. Nancy and I are also into our 46th year and I really pray for his full recovery so the two of you can enjoy some of the best years of life.

  4. Joint Tenants With Right of Survivorship. You really need to talk to the attorney and see what is going on. Don't count on them to automatically do a 1041. Many don't touch them. If one was prepared for 2007, there should be a K-1, or he may be electing a fiscal year, or determined a 1041 is not necessary. You need to find out.

Nomineeing- two ways. Prepare a 1099 from son to mother(yes it would be late), or report 1099 income on son's return (probably 4835) and under other deductions list " less reported on return of ABC, SSN xxx-xx-xxxx".

1041 necessary? You have to know what assets, if any, are still in the estate, and what income, if any, they are generating.

  5. When did she die, and when was the income received? Were they JTWROS? If so, the farm and the right to income passed to the son at DOD, except for income earned prior to her death. Depending on dates and circumstances, a 1041 may be required as well. If it was reported to him in error, then you could nominee it out to her return.

  6. Well, I don't see how it could be much plainer than what it says right on the 1310 under WHO MUST FILE. Quoting, in part, " must file 1310, UNLESS, either of the following applies.........You are a peronal representative,......and a court certificate showing your appointment is attached to the return." As I said before I usually do the 1310 anyway, because clients seem to understand better.

  7. KC is absolutely right. Proceed with caution! My favorite ploy is to ask to see their business plan showing when and how they intend for the business to show a profit. Besides the two KC mentioned, this has helped dissuade, or turn away breeders of "fighting chickens" ( even tho actually fighting them is illegal), breeders of tropical fish, and more dirt track car racers than I can remember.

  8. I have also been locked out all season and really don't care. Don't even try anymore. I think when they start calling about renewals, I'll tell them I don't give out my CC info over the phone, and since I can't get into my account , we have a problem!! Of course they will provide a link in their barrage of e-mails, but somehow they mysteriously disappear from my inbox.

Eric, let us know when we can re-up to help support this board.
