Tax Payer Pin or IP PIN ?

Recommended Posts

I have several clients that the IRS has issued a (6) digit IP PIN due to identity theft. My question is:

If ATX will only accept 5 numbers in the Taxpayer pin box on the 1040 EF Info form, where do I put the IRS issued IP PIN with 6 digits?

When I e-file the return I get an erro message IND-181 requesting for the IRS PIN.

IP PIN and Taxpayer PIN are two different items. The IP PIN which is 6 digits has a special entry field. In TW it is at the end of 1040 page 1.

Go to 1040

Main Info tab, scroll down to Individual  Filer Information, Taxpayer (DOB, AGE, DATE OF DEATH) Identity protection PIN (if applicable)
