MsTabbyKats
To the best of my knowledge, the IRS will not deposit a refund in a foreign account. Or, am I wrong...and they will?
jainen
>>IRS will not deposit a refund in a foreign account.<< According to the Instructions for Form 1040 Line 74, it's only "in the United States." I think you need a routing transit number and foreign banks aren't in the Federal Reserve System. Your local bank could arrange a transfer. Guest Taxed
Most foreign banks have so called "correspondent banks" in USA that they use to transfer money. For example a bank in Vietnam will have a correspondent bank (a US based bank) and they will use their routing # etc. In fact the checks written in Vietnam will have Us dollar denomination and the bank name on top will be some bank in NYC. Kea
I had a client in the Philippines get their refund direct deposited to their Philippine bank. They had a routing # & account #.
