She is from India and arrived in the U.S. June 1, 2010. She has no Social Security or Medicare wages on her W-2, only Federal & state withholding. Her Visa has a J-1 on it as to the type of Visa. I'm not sure what the J-1 is but she felt it important to tell me! After extensive reading, I tend to want to file her return on a 1040-NR because of the non-Social Security withholding (thinking maybe the hospital payroll knows more than I do). Any thoughts?
