  1. How did you like that storm tuesday night? We had VERY strong winds, but I heard that Northern Ohio

    had it worse.

    Booger

I had a Christmas tree outside by the curb for the city to pick up.....Not sure where it went, but it was gone that morning (and the city did not take it).

I was also not thinking that evening and put my garbage out on the curb.....It also blew away....cans and all...looked all up and down the street...did not see any of it. The wind must have taken it all away, so if you are driving out in the country Northeast of Sidney and you come across an old christmas tree and some cans of trash, you know where it came from!

  2. ATTN: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file

    Providers/EROs

It has been brought to our attention that an issue has been identified with

Error Reject Code 0295. We are currently investigating the problem

associated with this Error Reject Code. A subsequent Quick Alert will be

issued when more information becomes available.

  3. I had pretty much the same thing happen two days ago. Client wasn't all that thrilled with his refund. Same situation...young person, 3 different jobs, not much withheld. I e-filed the return through, then 30 minutes later the kid calls and wanted to know if I had sent it through yet because he wanted to go get a second opinion. I told him I had already sent it through, but he was more than welcome to take the copies I gave him to someone to have them check them over. (like Ray said, simple return, I double checked my figures) I told him to call me after he had done that. I haven't heard from him. I did not offer to refund his money. I had one last Saturday too. I had them sign but I didn't efile their return through until they told me to. They called back Sunday and left a message and said they had someone else figure the return (???) and I was right so go ahead and send it.

If I made an error, I'd do the amendment for free. But just because someone is not happy with their refund, I will not refund them their money.

I agree with you...but it sounds like maybe this e-file was transmitted without approval and without signing the 8879's? Although well-intentioned (trying to get client her refund fast by making deadline) this would still technically be the ERO's mistake. If my assumption of what happened is correct, it is still ERO/preparers's fault for sending whout authorization....So maybe a refund is in order.

HOWEVER....If she instructed you to transmit the reviewed return and signed the 8879, then as others have suggested...no refund of fee.

To answer your question...No, you cannot retract the transmitted e-file....She will have to amend and mail in the amended return. If her father's choice of preparers is honest, her "revised" return should be the same and you will never hear a complaint (or a thank you) from them. If, somehow, a dishonest preparer amends to increase a refund...then they deserve the audit that they will hopefully receive. In the end you will be proven right.

  4. Got all ours here at the firm today as well. Everyone Dated 1/24/08. The magic of time warpage....

Of course, now the PIN Status now states "8453 Required" for all Ohio returns....I guess it would be too much to ask for ATX to get things completely correct

  5. I received my "1040 Express Answers" today by U.S. Mail (1/30/08). I didn't mind having the tags turned in. It protected the tags from getting ruined. By the way does CCH have a web site to see the information in this book on line?

If you go to www.myatx.com and log in, there should be links on the right hand side called "My Online Products" There you can access the online version

  6. I see that ATX has this Form 982 updated (Approved) as of Yesterday....does this mean we can e-file it now or is IRS still not accepting it?

Has anybody heard anything or experienced anything with this form? I have two clients that are waiting on me to e-file (do not want to mail the returns). I am not even sure if IRS is accepting Form 982 yet.

  7. I purchased Max and have not received that guide - just 1040 express. I was not told the other book was included and the only online guide from Knienrock website is (through MyATX) is from last year. Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm........

My e-mail from ATX stated that Express answers shipped and the other two books were on-line ONLY (Kleinrock's 1040 and 1040 Master Tax Guide)

  8. I know the IRS statesd that form 982 (Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness) cannot be e-filed at this time....Does anyone have any idea when it will be OK to be e-filed?

I see that ATX has this Form 982 updated (Approved) as of Yesterday....does this mean we can e-file it now or is IRS still not accepting it?

  9. I think this is great something I think the program should always have done. The same with the taxable state refund amount I think that started rolling over last year. We can always take it out but sometimes it hard to remember to put it in. Nena

I like the big purple button that came with the deluxe version.....When I press it, a very tiny man with large hands runs out from behind mine desk and gives me a foot rub

  10. Tom, Why? They can get PEOPLE.

    Booger

Yeah, Tom...If they got people, they must be able to get your employees all sorts of refunds....Especially since they can get them all sorts of employee expense deductions!

....Maybe if they would tell the whole story in their commercials, I would not feel about them the way I feel about the smell coming from Lenny the Pirate.

  11. Darn it!...this aint funny!....Who stole my frikkin banana!?

I thank you all for your phone calls and letters of support....I especially appreciate the donations that have been submitted. However, the singing Bananagram was bit much....and kinda creepy.....the banana guy smelled like Lenny the Pirate.

Although we could not locate the missing friggin banana, Your donations allowed me to purchase a batch of chaquita bananas....they may not be friggin, but still yummy on my peanut butter sandwich!

  12. Neil- I just downloaded updates, seemed to work OK using MANUAL method. Also downloaded updates yesterday evening. Anyone else have problems with download?

I also had the "No Updates" message on automatic, but updates were actually available on manual

  13. "The qualifying child must meet the requirements under the uniform definition of qualifying child"

#4 -- Income -- child has not provided more than one-half of his or herown support during the year

This is directly from the instructions and Express Answers.

Would support also include the fair market value of the home (if owned)? If so this may increase the amount of support from the mother

  14. If you try to efile with this form, the error report at the bottom of the screen says that you have to wait until 02/11/08 to E-file. My guess is that it will probably be a tad sooner.

    Howard

    ....Wow....first 4 clients to arrive this season....all 4 have 8863 education credit

  15. Did anyone else get told by Customer Service (that's an oxymoron) that the e-file status of 1099's would NOT be included in the E-file update portion of MyAtx? And further more there were no plans to make them available to check except thru the program.

Just curious if that was just another "tell them something to make them go away" statement or if it was the truth.

I checked ACKs this morning and it was OK....but now I get an Internal Server error

  16. I just prepared my first return with an SD tax and the software is doubling the amount withheld, instead of $136, which is what I entered from the W-2, $272 is showing up on the return. I have no idea how to inform tech support, so maybe we have to go it alone?

    AnnieR

I have not prepared any returns that include the SD-100 yet...I will do one soon and let you know if I encounter the same issue

  17. I haven't seen any either. If I have to, I go to the OH Where's My Refund site and put the information there. The ones I've done have all gotten notification that the refund is in their accounts. That's the best I can do. Karen Fisk's office has also told me that one was accepted.

    AnnieR

    Ohio verified they were Accepted.

then finally today, I received an e-mail from CCH (the e-mail address was @taxwise.com NOT @atx.com)

telling me to do that synchronize thing...been there, done that.....If that did not work, he stated, "Please call Tech Support"....OK...any guesses on how long I will be on hold?
