  1. I got my renewal letter and wrote "HA-HA on it best joke of the day" - I wrote them back how were they going to compensate me for the additional costs incurred from faulty software for the 2012 season and that I would not even remotely consider their software without seeing a fully functional 2013 program prior to tax season. It is interesting the letter that came with it said 12.13 was fully functional (another joke) yet they are sending out 12.15 on the demo disk. I am having my attorney draft a request for refund letter to them based on failure to deliver a functional program and support as promised during the tax season. Amex also has an extended warranty and we are sending them a copy of the letter and hopefuly they will pull our fees.
  2. We just ask them for an email with a 5 digit number - checked with my contacts at OPR and they said it should suffice.
  3. There are so many things that 2011 did that 2012 doesn't . You could just type V and various would pop up in 2011 - not in 12. IF you were a check the box designee it would fill in the form for the state in 11, not in 12. Hit efile and it will only give you the 12 efile errors to repair and then you have run it again to get the state. Software input and execution efficiency is measure by keystrokes required and 12 is much more intensive in the number keystrokes to get to the same place. Plus the really big issue is process time. For a test we did a return in 11 and 12 and it took 1/2 the time in 11.
  4. It is better, but it is where it should have been in January, not in April and there are still a lot of issues. Do a 2011 tax return in atx and see how much faster and intuitive it was last year comapred to this year. Unfortunately they have put us so far behind we have had to turn away business. Going to find cloud software that works for next year.
  5. ATX reached out and wanted to know what made this program worse than last year. I sent them a list of over 30 items, but I think we need to inform the rest of the community how many issues they created in their new iterration. I seem to find a couple every day. So lets post all the steps backwards for the rest to see.
  6. There is an easy fix to this - had the same problem - 15 minutes with tech support did it- why they didn't post a solution to the knowledge base baffles me.
  7. More importantly it is time to find a good attorney. We are on the hook for mistakes made to returns because of ATX software errors. That means fines, penalties and refunded prep fees- they all go to damages. It is not longer about the refund, it is now about software liability and California awards triple damages.
  8. We have all our engagement letters in Communication Manager and when a new client came in it was easy to attach the Engagment letter and hit the page button and quickly print it for the client to sign. The along came 12.10 and that no longer works. Now we can add it but have to sit through2 minutes of print manager loading to print out one page. One more step backwards for ATX. Anybody else having this problem.
  9. Interesting incite about accuracy. I spoke briefly with one of my clients who is a software compliance litegator in Silicon Valley and she suggested that we find out about CCH E&O. If we get hit with IRS penalties and or customers costs because of failure of the software accuracy their may be liability on the part of ATX.
  10. It is interesting to note that updated refund policy now posted gives you until March 30, 2013 . 12.10 is up and we lost the ability to print single pages from any of the communication manager documents and you can't get through to customer support.
  11. Loaded 12.10 , It seems to load returns a little faster, but still extremely slow in comparison to ATX 2011. Lost some functionality on the Page print bar on the menu oftion. Can't print any of the letters including our engagement letter which is really a bummer. Program still blanks and response is very slow. Print takes way to much time to load the forms for selection. Don't try to roll over a return if you have a return open. The program is still a heaving pig compared to last years ATX. Forget the so called bells and whistles and give us back our functionality. It isn't even intuitive like 2011 especially when entering non cash contributions.
  12. The computer isn't making the difference, it is the software. I have a 4 year old gateway and a new dell and they both load slowly with the new system. Printing has gotten faster but the program temporarily hangs and my software clients say that there are problems accessing the database efficiently. The 28th is the last day we have to ask for a refund and unfortunately they pushed the 12.10 release to to 12/27. Our legal counsel has suggested we notify them on the 28th of a request for refund if the 12.10 release does not solve the issues. He suggested that those of us waiting ask the company to extend the deadline due to tardiness of addressing the issues. We also have a number of users in California that are looking at a class suit against CCH.
  13. It seems that the list of problems with 2012 ATX keeps growing and the fixes seem slow. Is everyone aware that you have until 2/28/2013 to request a refund. They charge you $20 per client filed but that is low for the opportunity to switch to working software. We are getting solicitations everyday to switch and there are some pretty inviting offers.
  14. Perhaps we should start being a bit more agressive in getting ATX to make this product more usable. If I print a tax return to paperless in atx I might as well go out for coffee . I can print to PDF and then add it to paperless in one tenth the time. If we all start calling tech with issues, perhaps they will either get it fixed or allow us to revert to document manager until the it is running correctly.
