  1. My quote for MAX from 7/24/13 was $1249.00 less $353.50 =$995 less 10%. I went deferred and paid $126.87, $69 processing plus sales tax $57.87(refundable if I don't keep program). So you risk a few bucks try it and have a backup.

  2. What I found interesting is they don't tell users, they put it in the media first! If it is good enough for the road it should be good enough for the users!! I may try to juggle my schedule and do an overnighter to NYC! So close to Thanksgiving my wife will be happy to hear about a road trip! She may even want to meet ATX and give them a dose of her "Irish" over last year. I am still very interested in Jack's report and if anyone at ATX can tell him what they are showing on the road.

  3. Monday, October 28, 2013 ATX 2013 Preview Participants Provide Feedback -- Part 1

The ATX 2013 Preview wrapped up at the end of last month, and we have been reviewing the feedback we received from your peers who tested an advance version of ATX 2013 software. We asked Preview participants to focus on some features of ATX software. Today our focus is on Installation.

The Preview participant pool was made up of tax professionals much like yourself and provided a representative mix of the ATX customer base.

    • 62% of Preview participants work in firms with 1-5 employees
    • 39% file 100-300 returns per year
    • 57% use stand-alone computers, while 43% work in a network environment

After using the ATX 2013 Preview software each week, participants were asked to fill out a brief survey focusing on the software features they used during the week. Over the next few days, we will share some of the results of those surveys with you. Today our focus is on Installation.

    Installation

    • Installation is different than in years past, and Preview participants requested more information to guide them through the process. We have already taken steps to modify the setup selections based on their input.
    • We asked Preview participants about the time it took to launch the software once it had been installed. 87% of survey respondents said the amount of time it took to launch was acceptable to them.
    • The network structure has been redesigned in ATX 2013 to enhance performance and stability. These changes were favorably received and participants were generally pleased with software stability.

A number of Preview participants offered suggestions for additional enhancements to ATX software. We will be working on incorporating many of these suggestions into software updates in the coming months or into future versions of ATX. Some Preview participants also identified areas where it would be helpful for the user to have a little more information about a specific feature or process. We are already working on a series of educational tips to guide the user through changes to ATX features and functionality. These tips will be available later this fall.

Preview participants used a variety of operating systems and hardware. Their experience, and yours, will be impacted by the capabilities of their system and equipment. For that reason, we encourage you to check your hardware and software to see how it compares to the minimum and recommended system requirements for ATX 2013. You can do so by using our System Analysis Tool, which you can access by clicking here.

  4. Jack, did you test in a network environment? If so, I'd be interested in how that went, and what type of network you tested. I'm setting up a peer-to-peer most likely. I was told that option was going to be available again for 2013.

Joan, I have been on a peer to peer for ten years and it was available but difficult last year!! In my opinion that is why they had the 3rd party technical help company advertised. I signed up for one month and quit as they could not answer calls and provide help due to overload. We never had good speed at all, constantly slow and crashing.

  5. Beta testers, I believe a large undecided amount of ATX users are going to making final decisions on your results!! Best wishes for factual testing and results. Unfortunatley we don't get that from headquarters.

Keep beating it up and throwing some crumbs to the suffering uninformed.
