  1. Per the refund cylce chart, the direct deposit is to be sent on Friday's. Second person called saying where's my refund is giving them a date of Tuesday. Did something change? Is anyone else having this problem? I do not give a concrete date but do tell them when to expect it.

    Thanks!

    Bonnie

My experience has been that there was a blip in the processing cycle or there was something in the e-file that created a manual "look-see". In each case of mine, Tuesday or Wednesday of that week turned out to be accurate.

  2. "ILL" like my teenage daughter sez, dood. I mean, I LUV it; and transponded it to every Hibernophile I know -- e.g., my bagpipe-adept cousin, my spouse's colleague's hubbie whose Scotch Whisky tasting-party marched our palates up from salt marshes to the Highlands, etc. Not only good taste, but, heck, where'd our profession get its greatest refinement since Luca Pacioli's formalization?

Having too much fun before the first, full week of year-end tax-planning, TaxCPANY

Usually I "get" most everything that passes for humor around here but this one goes right over my head. Do I need to speak or understand the "brough" to get it? I am suddenly feeling very dumb.

  3. Please.. let's get this thread into its own topic - just like TRX. At least TRX offered ATX software not Drake.

I'll ask again. Can we please relegate this to the Drake section. I thought that had happened a while ago and then it disappeared. Now it is back.

    Best price $640

A good machine, but the Fujitsu fi-5015C is also TWAIN compliant, and costs much less. Best price $355.

All of this discussion has fired me up to become less "paper bound". I just bought a Fujitsu FI-5015C on E-bay with warraty for cheap. I am ready to try it out and get back into these threads to get started. Just another reason I appreciate this forum.

  5. Taxbilly,

Someone (I can't remember who) on this board and a couple of others said that they received a 30% discount offer to resign with ATX within the past couple of weeks. Also, CCH took back the earlier discounted TRX packages and is handling the support for the discounted price. I just feel like those of us who signed up in May should receive the same treatment.

    Bonnie

    Agreed.

  6. >>I only got the 10% discount and now they are giving away 40 and 30% discounts.<< Could you point me to that?

    taxbilly

The 30-40% discount that I referred to was purchasing through TRX early. It just ticked me off that CCH has agreed to provide all the admin and support for a discounted product. I feel as others do - that CCH should have recognized the disparity in treatment to their current (me) and former (purchased through TRX) and provided some relief.

I also know that will never happen.

  7. Since it was us that caused all the ATX - TRX issues in the first place, maybe we should leave well enough alone.

TRX had issues with ATX because we (and I am one of the culprits here) started letting everyone know they were repackaging ATX for far less money than CCH sells it for.

We had numerous posts here on this, and several actually called CCH (I will say here though, that I did not do that one).

So here is what I know:

Since TRX needed a 2nd software to sell, and because of US they were limited on ATX to selling 500 units, TRX and CCH had to renegotiate their deal.

To avoid being held to exclusively selling one program (the repackaged Taxwise) CCH and TRX agreed that CCh would take back ATX and allow TRX to pickup a new repackaged tax software from another company. I believe their new software is from RedGear.

I was one of the 500 (sounds like a movie in the making) that purchased ATX through TRX. I have called TRX several times for various things and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are courteous, responsive and extremely helpful and supporting me with actual tax questions, even though they have agreed with CCH, that CCH is supporting the ATX software that TRX sold me (now that sounds like a run-on sentence). And I am still able to get to their forum.

Not that we should be afraid of CCH, I still think we should drop this subject, so not to hurt TRX anymore than has already happened.

At this point I intend to stay with ATX, because I like the software, not the company behind it.

We all know who has the big guns and who has already used them (they'll use them again, you can be certain of that).

We need alternatives, even if we don't like the software that TRX has to offer at this time. Lets not kill an alternative for those that want it, nor hurt TRX anymore than we already have.

So let me see if I have the gist of your monolog..

You got the ATX product of your choice (and usage) with support by CCH as it turns out - all of the advantages - for about 40% less than most of the rest of us pay?

I guess I saw the benefit at the time (40% off MSRP) for the risk of dealing with TRX. But now that risk is removed and those of you who ventured into the TRX web have come out smelling like a rose. I feel worse for not jumping.

And, oh, by the way, most of what has harmed TRX in this process is their own doing. They did not handle this opportunity well and have essentially been slapped around.

  8. You know, I was upset at the cutoff of orders that happened back in April (or so) limiting the number of ATX licenses to 300 (or so).

I am amazed at what has happened at TRX during the past few months as it appears that they are trying to undo their connection with this (ATX) software and sell something else.

The TRX website for customers is out of business ( and has been for months).

Has anyone actually heard from them regarding the 2009 season?

  9. I just called AMEX to see what they say about the legality of charging the $20 fee. It is legal in Georgia (the state where the transaction is initiated is ruling - not the state where the customer is) to charge up to 5% according to the AMEX rep. However, it may violate the terms of ATX's agreement with American Express if they did not change their agreement prior to instituting the charge. AMEX is going to look at the agreement and see if ATX in fact made the amendment to its agreement with AMEX before charging this fee.

I should not let these little things bother me, but it is $20, and that is money I would rather spend on other things than ATX.

I wonder if they will accept debit cards. They should not charge for that and they would have a timely payment to boot. I will find out today as I will be calling them for renewal.

  10. ATX will provide support? I understood that TRX, as per their website, was providing the support. I seem to recall, without reviewing the extensive postings, that along with the lower cost the advantage of TRX was the support they would provide, a better alternative in the opinion of those who already purchased through TRX.

When were you told that ATX would provide the support?

Curioser and curioser...this will be a most interesting tax season.

I suggested that the deal was better with CCH providing support since this would have required TRX to either hire ATX ready support staff (which seems unlikely) or train their own which would be a daunting task inside the time frame involved.

    Bob

  11. Wendy,

I was told by TRX support that their contract for ATX for 2009 was for ATX to furnish the support. That would explain the call you received from CCH.

So those of you who acted quickly and purchased ATX from TRX got both the great pricing and CCH support? That is just too good a deal!!

  12. It seems TRX's software might be Tax Works by Red Gear. They are mailing me a demo copy of "their software." Hopefully, it will be software that they developed rather than another "resell" product. With all the software confusion that is going around by TRX and the price increases from CCH and the others AND the new proposed security requirements from the IRS, I am going to be rethinking how much longer I will practice.

It is another resale situation. Once they were limited to selling 500 copies of ATX, it appears that they are going to offer another product for resale.

  13. Good news! We have extended the 10% renewal discount on your ATX tax software package! But this offer won’t last forever. You must call 1-800-495-4626 and renew by August 31, 2009 to receive the discounted price.

    \

Didn't this same offer come last year about this time?

  14. Exactly. And remember, while we love this board, our membership is a tiny fraction of the 4000+ ATX users. So it's doubtful that they lost many 'regulars' to the TRX deal. Even among those of us here, a lot were just hesitant to make any change. I'd bet that the majority of those 500 ATX packages that TRX sold went to new users who never used ATX before.

Please stop rubbing this situation in the rest of our faces.

  15. I just called them as well and they told me the same thing...As long as I ordered in April, I would get ATX software. I want to be happy, but the entire situation just makes me uneasy and concerned for the future

And leaves those of us who stayed on the fence until this got resolved extremely upset. I thought that CCH had committed 5000 licenses, not 500.

  16. The ATX Community Board had a comment from KIM MANUEL - VP CUSTOMER RELATIONS, CCH SMALL FIRM SERVICES IN which he commented on May the 5th with: After Reviewing many of the posts between ATX Community members and TRX over the past few weeks, I would like to offer an Official CCH Small Firm Services response to your purchasing inquires. TRX is not an authorized reseller or distributer of any of our ATX product lines. You will need to contact your CCH SFS renewal representative at 1-800-495-4626 to renew your ATX software".

Wow, does this officially close the door on ATX purchases from TRX?

    Edward-

That's old news. The dispute has taken a more ominous, darker, silent to the public side. Everyone is wondering just what is going on. Stay tuned.
