  1. Well David, they say you can represent clients in frt of irs cases so wouldnt be able to offer another service to public thus charge fees. We would probably be able to undercut what tax lawyers charge. Isnt that what all these commercials on tv now about how so and so saved me so much money in irs debt settlements? So did you take a class to study for or just freelanced on your own thru general knowledge?

  2. Has happen to me before last year and usually when its a reject from EFC, it has to do with improper forms or program glitch. Update all forms and program then reopen the return you're trying to efile. The system should update all new versions of forms and it should go through alright....

  3. Is it just me or has all returns sent this morn right after midnight still stuck at the agency? Been checking all day and nothing has moved on my RALs yet....and the natives r restless!!! :spaz:

  4. Well depending on what her biz is and if she can account for how she made her money if audited. Are they hand written receipts from a receipt booklet? Just because its printed all neat doesnt mean its all good! All IRS ask for is documentation and proof of what was said done was done.... Now as for being 17 with two kids worries me, but if she got the proof to show that they r then who r we to judge...

  5. Well I worked for them for two seasons and saw how they charged so much for nothing and how cold they were with clients. I was always told to get them through as quick as possible and stick to the questions on the screen when preparing. It made clients a number and a name not a person with real worries, concerns and questions about the tax situations. Thats why I branched off and started my own tax prep service and i always share my experience with clients when doing their taxes and everyone of them have had the "h&r block experience" and knw the difference of personal tax relationships that they get with people like us and the warehousing they get with them.... WE R THE CHOSEN ONES!!! LOL!

  6. Well ibb, its a diabetic treatment clinic that helps keep diabeteics healthy enough so they wont run up large expenses at area hospitals. The money comes from grants and private contributors. We're talking millions of dollars per year.... that help any in what i may be embarking on??

  7. Thanks alot guys. I am nervous, but you have to make the jump sometime. I think what scares me is the fact that they have millions of dollars that need to be spent in the operation of the clinic and it just seems overwhelming but once i see the acctg system that is already set up and how the previous acct ran things, i should be ok. Now these PPC manuals, can i goggle them and find a internet seller or need i order from a bookstore?

  8. Hey to all!

I have an oppurtunity next spring to work with a non profit medical clinic and they need someone to handle the bookeeping and tax filings for the clinic. I've never done taxes for a non profit organization before. Any pointers or things i can pick up on before May or am i biting off more than i can chew??? Need words of encourgement from the pros out there... :scratch_head:

  9. Well i just hope the refund ack are still within 24hrs if approved. That check printing is easy and efficent. I guess i"ve just been so use to HSBC for past 5 yrs and hope it wont be too much of a transitional change to using Republic's products. :dunno:

  10. I knw that some SSI Disability pmts will qualify for income for filing purposes of receiving the rebate check. What if you are receiving workers comp disability payments in excess of the 3000.00 min requirement? Does that qualify toward income for this purpose?

    Thx!

  11. Got a good one for everybody....According to the plans for the IRS to send these rebates to taxpayers this upcoming summer, if the taxpayer had their regular refund sent by mail, then the rebate check will come to that same address. Now if the taxpayer had the refund deposited into their checking/savings account, then it will be sent to the respective account...... Here's the kicker! What if a taxpayer received a RAL check? Being that the federal refund went to the respective bank that processed the RAL loan. Where will the rebate deposit be sent or will it convert to mailing address by the bank or will we be processing a check for the clients like we do the RALs.... :dunno:

  12. Need some help on where to report severance pay on tax return. i understand that you can report up to 35000. My client report 5000 of it last year when she filed her taxes herself last year online. It was on of those interview type programs that just asked the question and stuck it on the form... She having me do this year and wants to claim the other 30000, but dont know where to report on forms...

  13. Got a client with a daughter that is 22 that lived with him but works on her own. Can he use her for HOH status without being a dependent and if so will it affect filing her own taxes?

  14. Thanks guys for all the help! i got rollover part taken care of. now im stuck on what she received for severance pay. It was 30,000, but noting show on W2's for it. She just told me thats what she received. Am i missing something with this. Nothing in the 1040 tax guide explains severance pay.

  15. Got a client that took a distribution out of 401k and placed in a IRA account, but distribution code still showing "1" in box 7 with taxable amt showing in box 2a. She has a statement from the IRA account showing it is a rollover account where she gets smaller amts withdrawn out since she was laid off from her job. Isnt the rule that a taxpayer has 90days to put money into a qualifying account after withdrawal if not a direct rollover? Also she recieved a severance package amt. Where does that go on return?

    HELP!!!!
