  1. I am................... Just paying off all the credit card balances that build up over the slow months of 1 oct-jan. Monday I pay my own extensions and just sit here answering questions from clients that had their returns for weeks but only look at them on the 14th and 15th. then off to Vegas!!!!!!!!!!!!! first time there.

I REALLY look forward to your vegas (lucky 13!) review.

I bet you have been to atlantic city many times. so vegas should be no big deal. except, as they say...

"what happens in vegas, stays in vegas", unless you choose to share with us. I hope so.

danger, will robinson!!! watch out for a Hangover (movie) scenario.

is alan/zach galifianakis involved in your trip?

  2. interesting...since it was created but not transmitted, I believe there is currently no problem for you.

jmcq's suggestion could be an out.

or? bring the 4868 back into the tax return and change/adjust it. I think? that will uncreate the efile in return manager.

  3. i have no problem with tax and program issues on this forum. I welcome it and want more of it.

i do have a problem with hysterical demagogues who would suppress free speech.

i do have a problem with the forum becoming (to a greater or lesser degree/you make the call) a social media/political forum whose rules of engagement are substantially influenced and determined by a right wing clique...a clique who want to live on a one way street of opinion defined by their own point of view.

if a substantial portion of this forum is to be devoted to social/political questions, then recognize it.

    i like social/political discussion.

but, there needs to an understanding that a social/political blog is a two way street of opinion/argument.

  4. "And BTW, I couldn't care less what your opinion is. This is not about politics, this is about human rights and exposing this as the child abuse it is."

and I couldn't care less what your opinion about my opinion is.

you have posted dozens+++ of times a thread/response on chat that was political.

how many times to you get to violate chat terms before you are censored?

  5. I don't see why you cannot -- it says "lifetime" for a reason. Plus since not half-time not eligible for AO anyhow.

thanks for reminding me about at least half time for parents and the non refundable aoc 2500 tax credit.

i hope i have this right...without nailing it down.

I have had several, independent students (under age 24) who qualified for the full time (one session/12 hours), 2500 aoc tax credit...?1500 tax credit and 1000 refundable credit.

  6. I understand how the 1st amendment/free speech works...you don't.

    click or don't click.

    respond or don't respond.

    free speech.

no where does it say, like you are suggesting:

    don't click.

    don't respond.

    no free speech.

    if that were the case...

and it is why I find the inconsistent, hypocritical, simple minded political posturing of right wing demagogues so amusing...

DON'T CLICK ON OR RESPOND TO ANY OF MY POSTS!

    BAZZINGA!!

  7. You guys are way too generous. I feel guilty for all of the cash you guys send for the small amount of work I put into keeping the site going.

There are some big changes coming later in the year, though! I'll post more info as it gets closer.

put away the guilt and accept your capitalistic ability/niche/good fortune...whatever it is.

I think/hope I speak for all of us who play here in your sandbox...

over the tax years, I have found tax/program advice several/many times each year that save me time and money.

thank you to all the type A personalities (in spite of your political persuasion) who tell me/us what to do.

that is why I am here.

  8. Ease off, Jack, I'm pretty good at defending myself. :P

SCL, there is a thread on this subject in the Politics forum, as I am sure you know. However, I don't think of this subject as so much "political" but rather "humanitarian" and knowing that many don't have time for the Politics forum, right now, I decided to post just this brief update here. BECAUSE I find this latest development horrifying, for both the child and the family, I want ANYONE INTERESTED IN THE PELLETIER CASE to know it. I think it is clearly marked, and clearly labeled, so I don't see any reason except pettiness for you to object.

nice spin, but I'm not buying.

especially your forced rationalization about folks not having time for the thread(s) on politics.

yes, it's on politics (on more than one thread, already)...they even had apropos responses that I found somewhat interesting.

unlike this thread that languished until I made my "petty" complaint about no politics on chat.

as I said before, marking it NT does not make it non political. a distinction you, jack, and others frequently choose ignore.

  9. Due to a change in the law awhile back a few of my older clients no longer owe any tax on their returns because it is dividend and or capital gain income. A daughter of one client decided not to file a return for her mother pointing out she had owed no tax in two prior years and her situation had not changed materially. I am sure she would have owed no tax but question (to myself) if she might not receive a CP-2000 down the road. What do y'all think ?

the question is about filing requirement and what is "gross income"...in this case, I don't think there is a filing requirement...

"gross proceeds" of any stock sale is another question.

my mo is to file (one) consistent return (for the record) that shows no return was required.

then, when I don't file next year, the base line has been established.

  10. jack...I could be wrong, again, but I have a feeling you are creating efiles out of order.

as orson wells said in 1979 for gallo: "no wine before its time."

(edit) as much as you know about the program you no doubt are doing it right.

  11. the "company store" board has pursued this problem.

bottom line, some efiles have gone through and others have been rejected/"locked".

there probably is a reason for why or why not, but...?

    suggestions if locked...

surviving spouse call soc sec to see why locked...no way!

    paper file...please!

I have one...with a bail out solution for me.

they were not required to file (no fed/state withholding/refunds).

I was only filing to establish big nursing home med expenses.

now, so far, I just won't file.

  12. thank you for your response.

despite our political differences, I "heart" you and always have. you are a wise tax law/program guru.

today, after the weekend, I did just that and called tech support.

after 3 hours of 1st and 2nd level troubleshooting (and a waste of time), andre gave up, deleted my program, and reinstalled.

I seem to be back on track.

  13. it just started today for me...the program won't open at all.

this message seems to be different than other error messages people are talking about.

"the program has encountered an unexpected error and needs to close"

I noticed on the start menu...all programs list...that I now have 2 separate main cch folders containing the 2013 program.

the tree breakout on both folders show slight differences.
