Don in Upstate NY
This year the program is automatically transfering the Medicare B payment to 1040 line 29 (adjustment for self-employed health insurance) for returns containing a Schedule C. This may be correct if the taxpayer is not eligible to participate in a subsidized health plan offered by his employer (or his spouse's) or it may be wrong if he is. Not sure I would call this a bug, but it is the opposite of what the program did last year, and I have been unable to find any check box to mark regarding eligibility. Yes, you can always over-ride. Kea
I've had this on one return so far. I couldn't find any check boxes, either. I went in and put the negative of the Medicare premium in the SE insurance box. That netted to $0. On the other hand, it won't now carry the Medicare to Sch A. Not an issue in my case. A check box would make things smoother. But for the few hundred $ I'm saving compared to ATX, it's something I can live with.
