kcjenkins
So I have two options (correct me if I am wrong): 1. E-File return without dependent (which one to take off I don't know) and file an amended return after the fact with dependent. If only one had income, why would you not know "which one to take off"? But I would not take that option, I'd file a 1040X for the kid and paper file the parent's return.

It appears someone else used the SS # as a dependent which isn't allowing the parent to claim that kid. So it could be one of the two. Jack from Ohio
Have the clients get return transcripts for all involved. Case solved.
ZoomnFinancial
Feel really dumb... I had moved one of the dependents from the 3rd line to the 1st line as the 1st dependent was no longer claimed in 2013. I had forgotten to change the SS# so it was trying to get approval with the dependent that I had already filed the return for. Thanks for all your help. It was a long week!!!
